I didn't know about that either. Then, I saw a preview on CBS during football today where it said that topic will be introduced next episode.

It was in the promo for the next episode that aired at the end of the last episode.

Oh ok, in the future can you please put a tag saying it's from the promo. I assumed the spoiler was from a recent ep or something. Thanks

I thought Vinny Jones was good. And yeah, probably the best ep of the show so far.

This last episode was awesome. I was so disappointed at first when I thought they were taking it in another direction, but then they came through with just an awesome beginning to the Moriarty story line.

I thought it was an interesting "coincidence" that Sherlock's father's initial is "M".

I really loved the amount of planning they have built into Moriarty's story, he has spent literally years playing an elaborate game with Sherlock creating a huge puzzle of a fake serial killer, taking it to the next level by killing Irene Adler while the contract killer has as solid an alibi as they get just so 18 months later he could reveal the entire puzzle to Sherlock after first giving him time to recover from addiction.

The episode really took the show to a different level to what we were getting nearly every other week.

Irene is more likely to be alive than dead no?

It is a decent likelihood given the MO. Sure.

That was ****ing brilliant. I know nothing about the Sherlock Holmes stories, but if i understood well by reading some people's posts ITT, the story of the serie seems to be following the story of the books. Irene Adler was mentionned ITT before she was on the show, and M. too.

This is killing me because i would like to read more about it, but now i probably would spoil myself if i do. I'll just have to follow the flow of the serie and enjoy.

This episode was awesome, Sherlock almost crying at the police station when repeating what Watson said earlier was a great scene. I totally did not expect the twist, although i figured something would come up as it would have been too easy to find & kill the real M. in one episode.

Even more excited for the rest of the season.

I don't think it's following the books per se just that sherlock always has a love interest named irene adler and an arch nemesis names moriarty that's about it

You would be as spoiled watching the two (****ty imo) Downey Jr movies or the (excellent) BBC Sherlock series as reading the books and Elementary is very different in multiple ways.

The books and other adaptations were really different from Elementary. Sherlock being a detective who did drugs and the basic outlines of Irene Adler who is usually reimagined as the love interest (she basically isnt in the book she was in, at least not in the way people understand the term "love interest") and Moriarty the equal but opposite nemesis are, afaik, the only constants that has been kept from the source material. And even those will be reimagined in a few ways just to modernise and Americanise the story.

Btw thinking about it, I wonder if the M Holmes as Sherlock's father is a reimagined Mycroft who is written and usually portrayed as his elder brother. Not sure if he was ever named in the series, not picked up on it if they had.

Very glad I decided to record this. This was the second episode I've watched and it was about as solid a network show as you could find. I felt like I was watching a well done movie.

Yeah, in the originals their relationship was basically "Hmm, she outsmarted me the one time we met. Clever girl."

They've never mentioned Mycroft/Lestrade/Mrs. Hudson, and I doubt they'll bring in Mary Morstan.

So Holmes never saw her body? I don't remember what was said about that.

BTW - If it was up to me...

Spoiler:

Holmes' father didn't hire Watson. Moriarty did in order to get Holmes back in the game so he can soul crush him again.

(Watson was fooled by Homes' actor friend when she "met" Holmes' father. No reason she couldn't have been fooled when hired too.)

Since cause of death is being drained of all your blood, I'm guessing body doesn't matter. (Quick scan of the episode they don't say about no body)

best episode of the season, I love the dance between the two puzzle geniuses of sherlock and M. I hope they portray Irene Adler later on, in flashbacks or whatnot somewhat like they did in "Sherlock", she gave me such a massive boner that I had to furiously fap to thoughts of her after every ep she was in.

Yeah, it was a solid episode that was always going to be difficult to pull off following the series changing M ep that preceded it.

The show is turning out to be really good imo.
