grunching

I've gone through every Dexter episode in the last month and I love this show. I'm almost to the end of Season 5, and I've got to say, this season is my favorite. Love the Julia Stiles character and Robocop.

You've had one too many.

Some good: they left out Season 5 in the (no new content) teaser for season 6:

That VO guy is terrible for Dexter, I feel they've used him before too

some info re: the casting of new recurring characters & status of recurring characters from S5

Spoiler:
Quote:
Production on Dexter‘s sixth season gets underway at month’s end — ahead of a likely September premiere — and TVLine has an early look at the new blood being brought in to fill the void left by Julia Stiles, Peter Weller and Co.

Among the three recurring roles being cast are…

| Jamie: Described as an outgoing and fun Latina in her mid-20s, this Florida native relocates to Miami for grad school.

| Chicago Mike: New thirtysomething African-American homicide detective who possesses a finely turned BS detector. The Windy City native does not play well with Dexter others.

| Louis: A buddy of Masuka’s (C.S. Lee) who joins MMP as a new lab intern. Role calls for a Caucasian actor in his 30s who is “attractive in his own way.”
also,

Quote:
Colin Hanks has landed a role most actors would kill for.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the Good Guys star Mad Men alum is joining the cast of Dexter for a major Season 6 arc.

Like with most of the Showtime’s drama’s past guest stars (e.g. John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits), the specifics of Hanks’ role are being kept under insanely tight wraps. (His character description is not believed to be among the trio of new recurring roles producers released breakdowns for earlier this month.)

I'm digging that 2nd spoiler, but don't think I give a crap at all about the first one. Except for the 1st one in that first list.
05-09-2011 , 04:57 PM
Heh, forgot he was in Mad Men.

Spoiler:
"Chicago Mike" sounds like Doakes II. Which is, at the very least, more promising than Female Prado.
05-09-2011 , 05:47 PM
True, but

Spoiler:
I don't think "Jamie" is going to be a cop. Probably just a hot chick that is involved in some way with the whatever serial killer arc is next.

Spoiler:
Yeah, I agree. I was just comparing what I saw as "Doakes II" (Chicago Mike) with what I saw as "Female Prado" (Julia Stiles from last season). It still seems like a re-hash, but Doakes was interesting and a great foil for Dexter, so I don't mind it so much.

Ah. I do hope that's the case.

Thought the same, although isn't that what Quinn is supposed to be there for?
05-09-2011 , 08:44 PM
Spoiler:
That was probably the original intent, but I think they changed their minds with him so now they need a new one. Looks like they have other plans for Quinn

And also joining the cast for a multi-ep arc:

Spoiler:
Mos Def

I might like this one.

Spoiler:
not feeling it IMO, he's not a great actor and the fact he's going in as a villain sets my expectation even lower, not sure he's ever even played a villain before, but I'm hoping I get pleasantly surprised....

Not a great actor? I mean I guess it's subjective but... I find it hard to believe you've seen his best performances.

He's awesome in Bamboozled, very good in Monster's Ball, and very good in The Woodsman.

I saw MB when it came out so I don't really remember, but wasn't he only in it for about 5 minutes?

Bamboozled also came out 11 years ago, since then I've seen him in 16 blocks and Be Kind Rewind (movies where he played leads and a few others where he played smaller roles (Italian job???)), maybe it's that he keeps appearing in crappy movies that is coloring my views of him as an actor.

I don't have my hopes up either, but that's because season 5 was such dog****. Mos Def is easily the least of this show's problems, and could certainly make it better if anything.
