I think it's safe to say this show got "Entourage'd." Started out really great, then a steep decline after a few seasons. We stick around because they tease us with the occasional good episode, making us think it will be great again, but it's all crap. we've invested so much time into the show we can't help but watch every week and complain every week. it's a vicious cycle ='(
dexter hits the T sometimes, but sometimes he just drives right by, then chase has to run back to the camp so dexter doesn't just take lumen and get in the car and drive away.
But Chase will watch to see where Dexter drove to get around the tractor/backhoe/whatever, and while Dexter rescues Lumen he will move the tractor there. Then Dexter, who btw is the worst driver in Miami, will certainly hit the tractor on the way back. Unless he lets Lumen drive. This may be a minor plot hole, sure, but lets assume Chase has psychoanalyzed Dexter sufficiently to know that he would never let Lumen drive.
if dexter is 100% going to hit it, then why didn't Detective Deborah Morgan hit the same tractor 30 minutes later?
Deb, like everyone else in Miami, is a better driver than Dexter.
also, if she somehow swerves the tractor, didn't she at least see it and the red car that's flipped on it's side.
She lacks peripheral vision. I have no proof of this but the plot requires it so it must be true.
1. park tractor on road
2. have dexter crash into it
3. wait in bushes
4. got em
beats his first plan to get him, which seemed like:
1. wait in corner of Emily's place with fire stoker
2. get 'em!
obviously he couldn't have his muscle around because he needed to keep everything secret, did he even have a gun or anything? Dexter is taking out his co-conspirators left and right and you're just gonna ambush him with a piece of metal, wat?

but they failed spectacularly. the show was starting to get sloppy last season too, but i think people overlooked it because of the performances from MCH and Lithgow. S5 was mostly a lot of hot AIDS. i guess they could still turn it around and redeem themselves in S6, as others have mentioned it should be pretty wide open, except that it should begin with serious suspicions from Deb and Quinn about Dexter. but somehow i doubt that it's going to magically get better, probably the contrary until people stop watching.
It's been confirmed by executive producer Chip Johannessen This season was filler youtube vid
Wow. Two things about that interview/revelation:
1. So they devoted the whole season to the process of Dexter getting over Rita's death while not even knowing if there was going to be another season after this (they ofc had a better idea than the public but anyway it was announced just a week ago or so). And they did a really bad job at it. That interview makes me feel like all the non-relationships-related parts of s5 were just insignificant dibble dabble to fill up time.
2. If they have this kind of approach to the grand plot then now that the Rita thing is done and finished they can get back to making good television. We still have hope, this was just a bad "block" in the middle of the series and can be ignored if you don't care how Dexter handles life after his wife dies. Seriously why make that the be all end all of a whole season? I'm so tilted at this.
On other issues: far too many people are mentioning the bullet fired by Deb. Such an unimportant detail in the mess of hundreds of significant ones.
