Dexter: season 5 Dexter: season 5

Well now we know why they named the character Lumen, so they can make a lame "luminol" joke 5 episodes later.

I liked how Deb and Masuka didn't notice the blood trail turning blue and luminol all over the ground
11-01-2010 , 01:11 PM
they also didn't hear a struggle 30 feet away that involved tape being ripped off a human being

but these are the things i don't really mind too much - like someone said earlier, there's a certain acceptance of things happening that aren't 100% believable when you watch a show like this... those things, whatever. i don't think that makes the show bad. angel/laguerta, deb/quinn, those things make the show horrendous

+1

i can think of a million annoying things like this. but it doesnt totally ruin the show because its easy to see past. but tens of minutes of frontline nonsense is really bad. and im not against romance in film or television, but these cases are really just boring sub plots that are taking away a ton from the better main plot.

Luminol doesn't have some permanent effect. It only lasts for like a minute.

Anhel is bad for the show??? Please! Anhel is starring in the blockbuster Skyline hitting theaters any day now, hes a star!!!

I thought the whole courting of farce thing there was entertaining, despite whatever detail was glossed over/not credible. But then I also think Stiles is doing a good job, so I'm apparently a moron. Yeah, her performance doesn't rival Lithgow's, I can think of worse criticisms to heap on an actor.

Masuka told the cops not to touch the hose nozzle so he could pull prints from it, right?

He says, "I wouldn't touch the nozzle of that hose." The idea being that it had probably been rectally inserted. 100% for comedy.

The idea that evidence must be collected and the crime scene investigated actually works against the idea that Masuka completely resolved the case with his goofy theory.

Flame on, but I thought Stiles looked hot in this episode.

Oh yeah, that was my second guess.

This season is just so ridiculous. There's no way he would ever be able to get away with staging that murder in real life. What happened to the realistic crime drama I used to love so much?

The guy's heart still would have been beating anyway. That they both had their necks snapped, that the one guy didn't fire a gun, that the bodies were so recently dead, that there were no uniformed cops securing the scene, etc. just so much extraneous stuff. The details of Masuka's apparent explanation are so ludicrous that they are covered up by a Dexter monologue as Masuka simulates masturbation.

I thought it worked. It was both funny and managed to generate tension. I guess I'm in a pretty small minority.

The taped up dude didn't have his neck snapped, I assumed. Dexter suffocated him, which actually helped with the autoerotic theory.

BTW Dexter's monologue covering up Masuka's explanations so that we can only see him acting everything out was great.

I was 100% you were being tongue in cheek, i thought it was fairly obvious, and was laughing at the serious responses!

Perhaps you have Dexter confused with Matlock, Magnum PI, or perhaps Law and Order: SVU?
11-01-2010 , 05:59 PM
I like the ep and i like what this season is building up to.

As for anything not being realistic. Lol.
