Dexter: season 5 Dexter: season 5

One thing that annoyed me: how Dexter got locked in the room, I instantly start to think where this is going to take the plot (uhoh! Now Dex has to call someone and explain how he got in this situation with Lumen on he loose!) but then he just bashes the door and she refuses a ride because... well, I don't even know why she refused the ride.

Well, the door didn't look THAT sturdy. It's not like he broke through the lock itself.

She said something about how it wasn't the first time that happened, I assumed she had something in her past where she got raped by a group of guys. We'll probably find out next week.

Edit: Brian J, better at posting than me.

pretty good episode, season gets better and better.

The episode was so-so. Didn't stop watching in time and thus saw the prequels. Not sure if I like where it's heading.

At least the Dexter season arc is finally established. Didn't think it would be this though.

dexter and lumen, crime fighting superheroes, yay!

You know, in a television series, lots of things can be exaggerated or contrived. Like Dexters latent fighting ability, the ability to cleanly lurch through doors, and his ability to hush screams from cars barely 30 seconds away. But the art demands that the emotions keep true to reality, and there is no way in any sort of life that Dexter feels safe exposing himself like that on "a leap of faith." Even in season 3 Dexter had the fake comfort of Freebo's shirt and Miguels' committing multiple murders to keep some semblance of peace of mind that he wouldn't be revealed. Now he has absolutely jack, and whats worse it seems that the writers are suggesting that she wants to ride shotty with Dex after enduring all that trauma...

I dunno. I just don't like where this is going.

History, obviously.

edit: oh, thac's on it.

One thing is clear though: The Code is absolutely in shambles, Dexters sloppiness and the ease at which he reveals essential secret this past season and the current one means he's only keeping free by the grace of his confidants.

And another thing: The way the writers "saved" the Kyle Butler reveal was really ham fisted, I thought. It's a point I've brought up before: What did Quinn do exactly that was illegal? It's not a crime to talk to a protected witness, and furthermore one mighy think that that witness' cover would be blown by caring out loud arrests the moment that witness talked to. At best a departmental reprimand for going outside the chain of command. In real life, the question would have gotten through, and Kyle Butler's identity along with it.

So basically this is the lovechild of Lila and Miguel Prado, who used to be married to Paul, right?

I don't understand how, after 5 seasons of high frequency and increasingly sloppy murder, Dexter hasn't been apprehended by the CSI Miami crew.

From Its Always Sunny:

(the text doesnt do it justice but i couldnt find the video)
Quote:
Dennis: Think about it. She’s out in the middle of nowhere with some dude she barely knows. She looks around her, what does she see? Nothing but open ocean. “Oh, there’s nowhere for me to run, what am I gonna do, say no?”
Mac: Okay…that seems really dark though.
Dennis: No, no, it’s not dark. You’re misunderstanding me, bro.
Mac: I think I am.
Dennis:Yeah, you are. ‘Cause if the girl said no, then the answer obviously is no. The thing is that she’s not gonna say no, she’d never say no…because of the implication.
Mac: Now, you said that word “implication” a couple of times. What implication?
Dennis: The implication that things might go wrong for her if she refuses to sleep with me. Now, not that things are gonna go wrong for her, but she’s thinking that they will.
Mac: But it sounds like she doesn’t wanna have sex with you.
Dennis: Why aren’t you understanding this? She doesn’t know whether she wants to have sex with me, that’s not the issue.
Mac: Are you gonna hurt women?
Dennis: I’m not gonna hurt these women, why would I ever hurt these women? I feel like you’re not getting this at all.
Mac: I’m not getting it.
Dennis: Goddamn.

Dennis and Mac are at the boat store. Why is all this boat stuff expensive!? Dennis is worried they won’t have enough money for a good mattress. Mattress? Of course, a mattress. The whole point of the boat is to get the ladies tipsy topside and then bring them inside where they can’t refuse… because of The Implication. (Yes, capitalized.)

Mac doesn’t get The Implication.
Dennis explains… ^^

grunching, watching last nights ep on demand right now

deb: "where's the babysitter?"

dex: "probably preparing to kill me"

if this is foreshadowing...

and the raid on the apartment seemed about as unrealistic as possible. sunglasses on, not clearing the rooms of the other people

was that one of tuco's cousins with the machete?

it always tilts me when the main characters lead the charge in these situations with less gear/training/etc so when they first entered the apt behind actual swat types i was thinking respect...then it unfolded like it did and i just laughed. but that's tv cops for ya!

I thought it was pretty clear from the letter than her first abuser was someone from her family, likely her father.

Could be totally wrong though. Crap episode in any event.

i got that impression initially but then she seemed to imply boyd had accomplices but considering nobody else has been by the house or whatnot...it's gonna be hard to convince the viewer of this/it's probably not the case.

my working theory is her dad (or some family member...or for my pure entertainment...a priest) sells girls...she tried to escape but was still found...by boyd...who is just one of 5-10 guys who do the same.
10-18-2010 , 02:07 PM
I took it as there were others killing the girls, but in the back of my mind I was thinking if she means simply other people harmed her in life, that's a load of sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit

Really good ep. The season is developing nicely on all fronts.

Btw (and i didnt read this anywhere, so not a spoiler) is this is looking to be the end of LaGurta and AnHel in the show? Him losing his job and her resigning in protest or summit like that?
10-18-2010 , 04:16 PM
I understood Lumen's comments at the end to open up the possibility of Boyd having partners/accomplices/whatever who are still out there.

Regrettably, I don't see that happening. However, I was left wondering as to what the internal investigator guy was going after by bringing up the giving the best head comment.
10-18-2010 , 04:26 PM
i thought for sure she was gonna close the blinds and suck the guy off in her office.. she probably did, the slut
10-18-2010 , 05:05 PM
there is others like boyd out there, and yea as showuthexit, for sure she is going to have to meet up with him and give a good ole rim.
10-18-2010 , 06:58 PM
Lumen is a ******ed name, thats for sure

Weird ep, kinda good, but the Deb missing the guy from few feet was lol
