Also, I think it's pretty important that Arthur's son really liked Kyle Butler. My memory is a bit hazy, but wasn't Kyle Butler pretty much the kid's inspiration for deciding to no longer take **** from Arthur? The son might feel he owes Kyle/Dexter for helping him out, so maybe he won't turn him in because of that?

Pretty awesome episode aside from the painfully boring LaGuerta/Ahn-hell scenes. I actually kinda like Quinn (or at least the idea of Doakes 2.0, a cop who suspects Dexter is nuts), but it'd be fantastic if they killed off everyone but him, Masuka, and Dexter.

I might be jumping to conclusions too quickly, but since it was right last year...am I crazy to think the Venezuelan cop might be involved in the murders? They don't just randomly introduce new characters unless they're crucial to the plot, and her merely being Deb's crime-solving buddy doesn't seem crucial enough to me.

stereotypical for the above answer. take it, just gave him the motivation to do whatever he wanted and end the lives of people he was prolly always jealous of.

because he's not one for the law (with his past) and obv wants to take things into his own hands if needs be.

It's somewhat tilting that the dead animal guy had time to turn around and fire his tranq gun after getting injected, when EVERY other time the injectee is out instantaneously, including this guy's second shot.

Only problem here is when Dexter injected him the 2nd time he had a real gun out and was on even higher alert.. doesn't really bother me though

OMG Harrison is such a terrible actor! I can't believe they kept him in the show and didn't just write his part out of the show like the other kids!!

Right, because he's never done that before.

Still, yeah I don't think he can kill her. He has to find a way to convince her to not rat him out because he saved her life. She might become his new girlfriend.

Yeah I was thinking she'd become a new accomplice which he'll in turn kill at the end of the season.

Reasoning includes her wanting to get back at the *******s like Boyd that tried to kill her.

I'm finding myself liking the nanny and the lady cop. Some funky story line with the nanny would have to be better than the Lt/Angel, Quinn/Deb stuff.

He probably adjusted the dose because his normal dose wasn't quite strong enough.

I am not that interested in this season yet. I like the Dexter/Julia Stiles story line but the weird Deb murders hasn't quite piqued my interest and I can't stand to go through another ******ed Angel/Laguerta boring subplot.

Not on purpose. If you cant tell the difference between Dexter killing Miguel's brother in the heat of the moment or that other guy who was innocent by mistake, and killing a hostage in cold blood because she saw him, then you've been watching a different show this whole time.

Anyway, where to begin...

Some corrections:

The Stiles character is not going to "hook up" with or become Dexter's new gf/accomplice. She's a scared woman who just wants to go home to her family, seriously. She doesnt care about getting "back" at the would-be killer or anything like that. She just wants to go home, period.

Also, the second time Dexter tranq'ed Boyd Dexter also took his gun away simultaneously. Hopefully that's enough for the "omg he was on high alert the second time with a REAL gun" nits.

Some comments:

The killing scene between Boyd and Dexter didnt seem like a big enough payoff to me, but that could just be because I'm comparing it to the Trinity/Dexter scene. It just seemed like a scene between Dexter and an ordinary murderer, rather than Dexter and a fellow serial killer with rituals, etc.

I love what they've been doing with Harry this season. Especially this episode, when Dexter asks him "are you just gonna stand there or are you gonna help me?" They're really starting to show the depths of his psychological problems when it comes to Harry. Whereas before you see Harry as kind of a harmless conscience type figure, now he's almost a full blown figment of Dexter's imagination.

Some predictions:

The ritual beheadings were orchestrated (or allowed to take place) by the new female cop. A high profile case like this that she "miraculously" helps solve will be a fast way to earn her Detective's badge. Or maybe some blah blah about "taking back her neighborhood."

Trinity's family is a dead end. Although they dont give Quinn any conclusive statements to officially help his case against Dexter, their body language and hesitation before answering will give him personal cause to continue down that path anyway.

ha, boyds arm fell completely limp as soon dex needled him.. I mean Dexter caught him in his arms as boyd fell backwards, boyd went out instantly. There was a big difference

As always liked the Dexter stuff and nothing else.

Everything from the tranq gun onward was really solid.

Obv the show always overdoes voiceover like 1000x more than needed (I concede that the show is such that a healthy dose is needed, which is fine), but I feel like this ep went every farther than usual.

e.g. Dexter goes home and calls for nanny, there is no answer and he searches the house frantically. Voiceover: "Where are they??"

That said the next voiceover line (only other serial killers leave fridge messages) was great and a nice callback on a series that too often ignores the events of previous seasons.

Also, having Julia Stiles in the opening credits hurt the ep since she appears so late. They should have kept her name off until the end.

I've never seen a baby so happy on tv as when the new nanny picked him up, harrison>>>>deb

I liked how Harrison "took 1 quick step" and how the nanny was able to capture such a great pic of him taking that 1 step too
