thats because the writers took the easy way out at every turn.
1. Deb, there is no way she doesn't arrest those two. They had it set up, like you knew she was sympathetic, and then she's like, **** you guys, i'm a cop and this isn't cool. So they had it set up how the character would act in real life; then they decided to make that character go against her own morals so dexter doesn't get caught.
seriously, having Deb see the two of them and still leaving would have made this show a lot better than it is now.
2. Oh Quinn, that blood that dexter tested wasn't Liddy's, you all safe now.
really? for real?
2a. You don't think a case this high profile they wouldn't recheck that?
2b. The blood not being liddy's doesn't change the fact that Quinn was acting strange as **** and everyone knew it. So they just let that go? **** no they don't, there is a murdered cop. They would go balls to the wall to find the killer of a murdered cop, just like they went balls to the wall to find the killer of a cops wife..... oh wait.
so basically they could have gone with Quinn figuring it out and telling someone, or Deb finding them out, and they chose to do nothing.
Then Lumen leaves, great. Dexter looked like he was going to kill her. At least that would make sense, since he's a psychopath, and she is seriously ****ing with his life. And she still knows the secret, if she can't kill with him anymore, maybe she feels guilty in the future about what she did. she calls Metro miami "oh by the way guys, Dexter is a murderer and the bay harbor butcher and killed jordan chase."
the finale was garbage, the choices the writers made were weak and the easy road, and the show took a turn for the worse by making everything one big happy ending. Note to writers, the season doesn't have to be a neat package that starts and ends in the same place.
example, last season they made the hard choice, that was fantastic, this year, absolute garbage.
not even garbage, because it's entertaining, but it's drivel
edit, read the thread more, and this exactly

LOL at the resolution of the Quinn story line. Numerous cell phone calls from Liddy to Quinn right before the murder. Quinn's name on all of the surveillance equipment requisitions. Quinn's f'ing FINGERPRINTS on the outside of the van where Liddy's body was found. Quinn offering no explanation whatsoever. Oh, the three specs of blood on your shoes don't match the victim? You're free to go.
