Colleton: I can tell you this: This is the last time we will dangle that. "
LOl at them acting like they did a good job. Not specifically hating on the good ending, that woulda been fine by me, but this season was just sloppy and mediocre in terms of writing.
Even when reading the interview something else bad comes to mind: the Trinity family being completely forgotten and the Kyle Butler thing just not playing a role anymore. I realise the Feds have this, but how can Dexter have a peaceful life without knowing how that progresses? And we had the most unethical prick Liddy trying to get Dexter behind bars but he never decides to do anything with Quinn's actual theory.
12-13-2010 , 08:03 PM
Yea, I can't remember that scene either - Deb knows Dexter and Rudy were brothers?
12-13-2010 , 08:10 PM
Just so I'm clear, Dexter takes a boat to Liddy's van to do his job. He then tells Angel he needs to leave for some reason, and he just walks off and steals a car?

What a joke.

I kept myself awake for like 2 hours because I couldn't believe all the **** that was glossed over. So aggravating.

Quinn wouldn't notice blood on his boot over the course of a few days? Taking them off an putting them on, never noticed blood, but fish-eyes LaGuerts spots them from standing position?

Other gripes, some previously mentioned:

-Deb's bullet at Chase's camp
-Blood from the murder/footstab at Chase's camp
-Dexter impervious to injury especially the epic car crash
-Dexter not worrying about the pictures Quinn has at his apartment after Liddy died.
-Dexter just throws Liddy's computer into the water right near the van where it would most certainly be found by cops sweeping for murder weapon.
-Deb taking Quinn back because she "can't judge" anymore
-Deb going to camp site alone with no call-in, having seen a wrecked car on the way
-Harrison not saying Die-Die to end the season

dexters body is clearly very used to being in car accidents and now they dont bother him at all...

"Dexter just throws Liddy's computer into the water right near the van where it would most certainly be found by cops sweeping for murder weapon."

Yeah I thought that as well. The way Dexter handled that whole thing was really stupid. Chucking the equipment about 2 yards away into some shallow water where the police are going to look, and most likely recover the data (I doubt the water would make the hard drive unrecoverable) - good thinking! Also, just leaving the van sitting there with a pool of blood underneath it and a dead body inside? I get that Dexter didn't have the time to properly dispose of the body, but he could at least have moved the van somewhere better or cleaned the blood up a bit!

I thought he left the murder weapon in Liddy's chest? I would have to watch again to make sure though, no reason to sweep the water for it then, although I agree that throwing into the water was dumb unless we are just assuming the saltwater would make any contents unrecoverable.

Pretty good timing - Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are separating.

Deb confronts Dexter about all the killings, and Dexter must kill his own sister to save himself? Combine that with the emergence of Harrison's dark passenger and season 6 will be amazing.

This is actually pretty plausible. I've been in 5-6 car accidents in my life and 3 of them of them were pretty violent (I got T-boned; I was a passenger in a SUV that flipped; I slid through a guard-rail and over an embankment). I got up and walked out every time. Obviously I'm very lucky in this regard, but it's not absurd or anything that he'd just crawl out of the car a little dazed.

IIRC, the accident last season was much worse than this one.

Goddamit, the writing for this show is such a ****ing joke. MCH rules tho, so I'll keep watching.

4=1>2>>>5>>>3

S5 is not the greatest season, but it is def better than S3. Having said that, I still enjoyed watching this season. I guess more people are a little disappointed that there wasn't some huge surprise at the end or a major character being killed that was not expected to, but I dont think they need to do something like that every season.

Also, when people are saying S5 of Dexter was "terrible", are people saying that it is terrible in comparison to the rest of the seasons, or just terrible in general? Dexter is still one of the best shows on tv, imo.

The finale kind of made me forget that I really liked the latter portion of this season.
12-13-2010 , 09:25 PM
terrible in comparison and really not good in general imo. if the first two seasons were like this, i probably would not be watching the show.

People keep saying this. Not sure that I agree any more tbh.

The show has no balls. In the last 12 months there's at least 10 dramas that had better seasons that I could easily come up with - Mad Men, Breaking Bad, In Treatment, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, Friday Night Lights, Rubicon, Terriers, Justified, Fringe.

No, it's not one of the best shows on tv.

123 all didn't have "big reveals" This is a standard textbook dexter finale. 4 deviated from the norm. After 4 everyone is expecting quinn to be in jail or deb to find out about dexter or lumen to die... that's just not how the show usually goes.
or maybe it's the fifth season and i'm hoping for a different arc next year than just dexter outwitting another bad guy

When rating a series you also got to remember as a series progresses through its seasons the show should become more fleshed out, deeper, and as a whole better. One bad season hurts that entire process and thus previous seasons and the series as a whole.
As an example, lets compare Breaking Bad to Dexter. When BB started out I thought that it was a great show but Dexter was way better. (I think Season 1 aired around S3 of Dexter?) Season 2 rolled along and I put it besides Season 3 and 4 of Dexter and I wasn't so sure anymore, while Dexter was still a very great show Breaking Bad was imo achieving so much more in 1 season(S2) than Dexter ever did in one of its seasons and while I still preferred Dexter, I started to think Breaking Bad would eventually surpass it. The storyline was so interesting and the amount of balls the writers showed combined with the style were making it into a very unique show.
Season 3 of Breaking Bad finishes airing and probably everyone agrees that it has surpassed where Dexter has gotten after 4 seasons(or now after 5), and if you just look at Season 5 it has become shameful to compare the two, Breaking Bad is not just on another level, it's several levels higher.

It is of course still better than most drama crap on commercial networks, but it has certainly dropped to the lower tier of the good dramas out there.

I still think it can recover, but the writers got to learn to either write a very good Season or get some balls. This season had a poor storyline with tons of holes/badly written arcs and they didn't dare doing anything major, not a very good combo imo.

regarding this, i believe they showed them on a long boat ride on the way to the scene. I assumed he took a boat ride back and the car was taken from that area and not near the crime scene but who knows.

Quinn was the best thing about this season btw

She called it in, so she's admitting she was there. She can just say that she saw someone running and shot at them but they escaped. She didn't have backup and was unfamiliar with the location, so I would buy that she lost him.

Did I miss something? How did she solve the case?
She found the location where the murders occurred, and it belonged to Eugene Greer, who is actually Jordan Chase. Case solved, Chase is guilty. Other accomplices are dead or missing. They'll hunt for Chase & co. but the hard part's done.

[I don't know why I'm defending this ******ed plot, but I am].

what if deb called dex just before entering the cabin and heard his cell phone go off?
12-13-2010 , 11:05 PM
what about all the blood at the chicks house that Chase killed where Lumen went to see her
