Dexter: season 5 Dexter: season 5

does everybody agree this was the worst season?

This whole season has been filled with massive plotholes for the purpose of adding cheap drama. What the **** was the point of Lumen's ex? All the pointless **** between Laguerta/Angel? Unbelievable to me that after the whole Trinity + Rita death storyline, Dexter goes 12 episodes without getting found out. Bad season.

Only awesome scene in the whole finale was when Chase was inspecting the knife kit and got to the empty holder at the end.

LOL at the resolution of the Quinn story line. Numerous cell phone calls from Liddy to Quinn right before the murder. Quinn's name on all of the surveillance equipment requisitions. Quinn's f'ing FINGERPRINTS on the outside of the van where Liddy's body was found. Quinn offering no explanation whatsoever. Oh, the three specs of blood on your shoes don't match the victim? You're free to go.

Another bit of sloppiness. The red car that got stolen from right next to the Liddy crime scene ends up overturned in the woods at Jordan Chase's rape camp.

MAYBE the murder investigation of Quinn and the inexplicable presence of that car at the camp will be major things to kick off next season, but the way they left it, I wouldn't be surprised if those two story lines went the way of the Santa Muerta cult.

this season was beyond bad. i really didnt believe the show would sink this low and somehow ive been really hoping for redemption but they even made the season worse than id expected, and i was lowballing big time midway through. really amazing how everything predictably dumb. nothing climatic. long stupid scenes. really stupid. really annoying. erg im mad.

also this.

was that the series finale or they get picked up for another season?

yeah "2>3>1>4>5" is laughable.

thought the finale was decent for what story was left to tell given there will be at least another season. overall i guess it was on par with season 3. the beginning of this one was just so bad. so much time spent on weird stuff and little in the way of logical transition from season 4. a lot of people in last season's thread made lists of things that would have to be addressed, and much of it was ignored.

a few of the kills (or at least what should be genuinely suspenseful scenes) were pretty meh this season too. liddy just pulls a knife out on his only chance to get his job back, but of course dexter dexters the situation despite being tied up. then tonight the chase pursuit wasn't suspenseful enough so the kids showed up at an inopportune time and dexter gets in his 10th accident, only to somehow secure a knife and escape again (had similar feelings season 3 when he escaped the table and ran out of the warehouse in daylight with cops arriving). dexter gonna dexter. i get that it takes a very talented and creative writing team to come up with stuff that works, but a lot of this just feels so contrived. i seriously doubt season 6 will be at this level.

really disappointing finale, first half was ok the second just boring...
12-13-2010 , 01:41 AM
I think the first half was better than ok, and the second was worse than boring.
12-13-2010 , 01:49 AM
I looked at the clock after jordan dies and everything is pretty much wrapped up and saw there was 15 minutes of show left and was like "awesome that means something interesting will happen at the end other than 'dexter goes to harrison's party a la s3 marriage'" and yeah. At the very ****ing least have some kind of confrontation between Quinn and Dexter FFS.

This. Despite the fact that is was obvious this was the route they would go it makes no sense. So instead of it being 100% that Quinn was involved it's now just 98%. Note to serial killers, if you want to get away with it, just smear blood of various people you didn't kill all over your clothes. Easy game.

Nah, for me that's still S3, pretty easily. This was the second worst for me, though.

For me it's easily 1>4>2>5>>>>>3

Agree with everyone about everything.

What was the final line in the exchange between Quinn and Dexter?

Quinn - "thank you"
Dexter - "for what?"
Quinn - "for the bloodwork"
Dexter - "just doing my job"
Quinn - "yea well ............"

he swallowed the rest of that and I couldn't make out what he said

There was absolutely no chance of the show getting canceled.
12-13-2010 , 02:05 AM
nah, S3 is even better than that piece of crap. just awful stuff, and didn't they even hype it up like something epic was gonna happen?

Quinn: "hey Dexter, thanks for ****ing with that blood evidence, even though it totally implicated me, and you supposedly hate my ass."
Dexter: "yeah no problem, bro!"

wtf, is S6 doesn't start with both Deb and Quinn all over Dexter then this show is just done. they should both basically know by this point, if not more people. if that doesn't happen, then yeah, this show is not even close to being good anymore. at least be brainlessly entertaining then, and most of the 2nd half of this ep was not.
12-13-2010 , 02:13 AM
he said "yeah well, you watch your back because im on to you"

No he didn't.

Dexter: "Just doing my job."
Quinn: "Yeah, well, that was the one thing hanging me up."

Worst season yet. Not a particularly bad season overall.

Id take this over any of that Glee ******** any day of the week.

The dexter/quinn result was the worst. I mean, Quinn obv knows Dexter killed Liddy and he doesn't give a ****???? Quinn should have told Deb about how Liddy was watching Dexter and when Dexter/Luman were cleaning the knives, they should have heard Deb coming and ran but only after she got a slllllight glimpse of them from behind. This would have got her super suspicious and set the next season up nicely.

Kinda feels like nothing was achieved this season and there was no real point to any of it.

I thought they were pretty strongly implying that Quinn does know

This. Awful season filled with bad acting and ridiculous plotholes. Showtime gets canceled tomorrow. I will not be coming back.

How many times does the show need to remind you that the FBI took over the Trinity case? Why would Miami Metro still try to solve it? There isn't much Deb can do other than console Dexter and work all of her insane cases like Santa Muerte and the barrel girls. They all don't just sit around trying to figure out how to tamper with an FBI investigation.

This season sucked and had a ton of holes, but complaining that nobody's looking for Trinity is ******ed.

+3 or whatever we're at to this. I was thinking the same thing.

Also, how about this guys -- remember how the Department totally freaked the f*ck out when Laguerta and Batista started dating? All of a sudden everyone was going to get transferred or fired and all kinds of sh*t was going to go down so Laguerta had to insta-marry Batista to save their jobs. Because the only way two cops can bang each other is if they're married.

But now Quinn and Deb just openly date in front of everyone and it's all good? Is there some "if we're partners it's cool" clause that the Captain forgot to tell us?

What a bullsh*t season.

Wow I disagree completely with this ranking. Season 5 was just terrible. I can see people arguing about the ranking of the other 4, but 5 is easily the worst. People have already pointed out numerous problems with it, but I can't see how you could possibly think it was better than both season 2 and 3.
