BTW, I've never loved Quinn as an actor but I thought he did a really nice job in that conversation with Deb. Talking about how she's like a guy in that she doesn't play games and says what she means with appropriate profanity. A good moment for him; almost played it like this was his swan song of a season.

hair thing is something that you just have to ignore for the sake of television

phil is a smart guy. i was also wondering about the hair/trace evidence but this is believable.

No, I thought it was terrible also. I'll probably finish Dexter through the finale, amd mete out judgment at next season's premiere: if it sucks, I'm done with the show, it's completely dead to me ATM. The groan-inducing sentimentality and massive plot holes are just too much more for me.

I thought hard drives are waterproof. Someone try this at home.

i'm just not really feeling it this season, but i'm still watching with a solid 4/10 excitement factor

didn't go through the last 50-60 posts

but how is dexter gonna explain his midnight boat cruise pictures in quinn's house? afaik dexter said he didn't take the pictures with him. and obviously with liddy's murder, quinn's place is gonna get searched.

and i'd assume liddy would have the presence of mind to make copies of the video esp the one where lumen was doing the stabby and dexter watching on. obv liddy's place is gonna get searched too and it's most likely going to be there. so how is dexter explaining that? dex would have to be at least suspected as an accomplice to lumen with all the circumstantial evidence at this point.

unless he somehow ninjas both quinn and liddy's houses... quinn is gonna be easy since he knows where the pics are, but dex has never been to liddy's place so i don't think he can remove evidence as easily

I agree that this season has mostly sucked, but this weeks ep did not imo. Heres hoping the kids + Lumen are gone by next season. ONE TIME!!!!

AFTER TRACKING THEM DOWN AND A TEARFUL SCENE, DEXTER DECIDES THAT THE IRISH FAMILY IS BEST TO RAISE HIM AND NOT HAVE HIM LEFT THE LIFE OF A MONSTER AS HE HAS LED.

GEMMA SLAPS HIM. GEMMA THREATENS TO DESTROY WESTERN WORLD IF HARRISON IS NOT RETURNED. DEXTER REGAINS COMPOSURE AND KILLS EVERYONE AND BRINGS HARRISON HOME.

DEXTER FINDS OUT THAT LUMEN IS PREGNANT WITH HIS NEXT SON...

Code is long out the window
The show has never been about a vigilante superhero killing evil people to fill the cracks in the justice system. That a handful of episodes, particularly the early ones which establish his character and code are like that, is a device.

His code violations are important because they are code violations, and they are usually pointed out as such. He is evolving with and against: don't risk getting caught, kill those who need to be put down, kill dispassionately, don't let anyone close, etc.

so seriously, did they just totally drop the Santa Muerte storyline? i mean what was the point then, so there was a reason for Deb to be pissed at LaGuerta. then she could totally redeem herself with that awesome court order that resulted in nothing when Chase didn't show up for his plane?

oh no wait, it was so they could introduce Det. "What's Her Face?" who screwed Deb over to make rank. and then...they haven't really used her since. i mean has she even been in the background or a crowd scene since then? oh wait, Deb told her to **** off or something when they were getting coffee or whatever, right?

i really, really, really hope they address this in the finale, and that the episode is actually really good, rather than what i fear. pivotal episode coming up i think, things could turn very sour for a lot of people if they screw it up.

Season has improved radically in last 3-4 episodes. I don't even hate Lumen any more despite the fact that Julia Stiles is so bloody odd looking.

This is definitely a problem. Midrange shots, she looks fine, and in a lot of close ups, but often her face looks molded in a really weird way.

No way Quinn goes down for murder. The blood will be discovered and Quinn will put two and two together and start gunning for dexter again while trying to get it past Deb unnoticed. I also think the laptop probably plays a part. If an investigation is launched it will almost definitely get pulled out of the water at some point.

Am i crazy or was Liddy's "terminator" line a throw to the huge rivalry (and comic crossovers) of both franchises?
12-07-2010 , 08:04 PM
Who the **** cares about the Santa Muerte crap? It was boring as hell.
12-07-2010 , 08:18 PM
Thinking about it, I think my only problem with this season is that most of the earlier episodes was just filler. The main storylines have progressed nicely towards the end, but soooo much filler this season.
12-07-2010 , 08:44 PM
The earlier subplots seemed to only serve the purpose creating a bunch of dissention in miami metro and getting debra sent to the fileroom as a catalyst for reopening the barrel girl case. I hope, very much so, that the fact that Deb and Quinn are after Chase atm will be they key to some sort of game changer in the show. That could be something as minor as them id'ing lumen as the 13th victim and Deb knowing of her and dexter's relationship, or as big as her fiding dex at the crime scene of chase's death, knife in hand.

Anyone think this (speculation) regarding the vigilante.

Spoiler:
That Emily (the chick Chase killed with the fire poker) will be found out to be the 'Vigilante' (same size/weight as Lumen), possibly when they link all of those guys together or whatever - like how Jordan Chase carries her blood with him.
12-07-2010 , 08:56 PM
goddamnit, i wish i hadn't read that ^
12-07-2010 , 09:25 PM
That makes a lot of sense, the only problem with it is

Spoiler:
the shoe prints.. will they just ignore that? Maybe Dexter plants Lumen's boots on her

Pretty well sums up where I'm at with this show. I'm thinking of rewatching Season 2, just to see if it used to be as good as I remember it being, or if it was always this dumbed down and I didn't notice before for some reason.

Santa Mierda imo. Just never went anywhere, best to forget all about it.

What is to finish?

Two brothers, one shot dead, the other on the run and now the responsibility of the US Marshalls. I smell a crossover with Chase
