Yeah I'm probably wrong >_>.
I just mean the story is perfectly written each season, and just making a ghost out of Fuentes would ruin that.

no thoughts on the fact that Chase doesnt touch the girls? does he just watch? He's obviously in the room cause he says "tick tick tick"--- but then thrown a curveball with his first victim and him not being interested in sex?

weird.

yeah seems like he just watches. i thought the scene with him and the first victim was real interesting. when he takes her hand off him and says whatever. he isnt looking at her. hes just staring off into space

I have no interest in seeing one of the best shows being made right now getting cancelled because of a slightly bad half season. Taken overall this season is better than season 3 and season 4 was great.

Given the huge variables on how they can end this season its impossible to predict next year, however i can see a lot interesting storylines coming out of this season.

Also i so massively disagree with "They don't really seem to have a decent direction for dexter anymore" - the ultimate direction for Dexter is being found out by Deb and Lumen is a massively more interesting direction than Rita ever was.

Dexter isnt yet at the point that it needs a definitive end point, but it is getting close. Whether this is going to be next season, two seasons or even longer will probably be defined by the end of this season and the direction next season will take in response. What is certain is this season wont have an ending like season two with everything wrapped up nicely, but regardless all i know is i enjoy watching the show every week.

It doesnt need to keep the same quality if its still easily top 10 right now. Saying it peaked in season two as evidence it needs to be culled is pretty ridiculous, season two was one of the best seasons of any show ever. Shows rarely maintain high quality for so long. But in no way is the quality progressively getting worse, it is clearly swinging back and forth.

I guess i'm more pragmatic than most people in OOTV in that i don't watch a lot of TV, maybe only 3-4 shows a year, so really don't have much time for a show when its only "good". I thought Dexter seasons 3 and 4 were very mediocre, mostly because they suffered from pacing problems and lack of direction in the script. It generally seemed like the series would have worked better with fewer episodes. In both S1 and S2 i was eagerly awaiting each new episode, every season since it's been more of a slog, punctuated with some great moments of TV (rooftop scene, bathtub reveal etc).

And yes, there IS direction for the show, its just they don't want to seem to touch on it for fear of cutting the show short. For instance Deb got so close with the Dex/Rudy stuff, what progress has been made with that this season? I get the feeling they'll drag every last bit of enjoyment out of Dexter before they wrap it up.

kinda lame.. Quinn never gonna know now? Everythings just gonna get wrapped up in a nice little package next week and Dexter's gonna go to Harrison's bday party with no worries... I really hope it doesn't go down like that.

When Quinn, Deb, and Angel were sitting around talking about the court order, and Deb goes "We can't get it from Laguerta, she always screws me!" why didn't Angel go, "Um, she's my wife and I'll get it." ? I guess because they wanted a forced angle to mend the relationship between Laguerta and Deb. So clumsy though.

Still, pretty suspenseful stuff with Liddy/Dex/Quinn/Lumen/Chase. Even if they've been through that whole Dexter-hiding-with-dead-body-while-cop-lurks-outside thing a few too many times.

Naw, I don't think so. Maybe he notices the blood on his boots? Maybe he goes back to find Liddy and sees the blood on the van?

I think it has more to do with Laguerta and Angel's relationship being on the ropes.

oh man I forgot about the blood!!!
12-05-2010 , 11:17 PM
Plus, I mean, Quinn might not be the brightest bulb, but

[Quinn's suspicions of Dexter] + [Liddy saying he's got a line on Dexter for weeks] + [Liddy winds up dead]

would have to add up, I freaking hope.
12-05-2010 , 11:22 PM
I was assuming Dex would get back and clean up Liddy before anyone else found out eliminating that Liddy winds up dead part. I think Quinn will know right away what happened if he finds out Liddy was killed

stuff about this week's episode and next week's previews:

Spoiler:
They find Liddy next week, I never watch the previews but didn't turn it off in time, got sidetracked as it ended.
12-06-2010 , 12:04 AM
While this season hasn't really been bad the ending here was nowhere near as good as "hello, Dexter Morgan"
12-06-2010 , 12:59 AM
No, but the final shot of the preview for next week is as far as "OH SNAP!!" moments go.

Previews are really easy to manipulate you into thinking something is going to happen but not even close to how it seemed, but I think that one might actually be what it seems. Just not as severe.

what exactly was chase trying to accomplish by getting dexter and lumen to come to the girls house? I mean what would he have done if dexter would have shown up too because he didnt seem to have a plan.

If they find the blood on Quinn's shoe, that points fingers directly at Quinn, along with the surveillance tapes being taken out under Quinn's name. Just some things I just thought about, I could be totally wrong though.

good episode, looking forward to the finale...

Quinn's screwed. Deb has seen him and Liddy together multiple times, there are multiple payments from Quinn to Liddy starting immediately after Liddy get's fired, and there's obviously some sort of history there in that they both seem to know each other was dirty to some extent.

That plus the blood makes it look like Liddy was blackmailing Quinn by threatening to rat him out to IA and Quinn killed him for it. The only thing that could possibly save Quinn is the folder of photo's of Dexter and Lumen he has since they are the only evidence Quinn's got of what Liddy was actually working on. And I somehow doubt Dexter will let him keep those.

spoiler on preview + end of series
Spoiler:
Yeah, deb's not going to find dexter holding a knife. That's lumen there every time. Show wraps up with lumen getting caught by deb and taking the rap for the murders, Quinn gets pinned with Liddy's death in some fashion, and Deb finds the folder of pictures of Dex and Lumen dumping the bodies at the end and realizes that Dexter was the guy helping lumen off people.

my enjoyment of this season is really hinging on how the finale plays out

i'm not very happy with how liddy went down like a bitch and now it seems that it's just going to get coincidentally pinned on quinn. and i'm also mad that liddy never once said anything like "dexter is the bay harbor butcher, i have all the proof, get down here and arrest him" instead of "i've got a big arrest you need to come make"

Good ep again.

Sickest preview ever.
