I'm so dissapointed with this season's lack of the Mitchel Family.

i dont miss his dad i think hes annoying when he appears "like a ghost".
11-22-2010 , 01:31 AM
i coulda done without dexter saying "what should i do?" to lunen lol made me break focus on the show to think of you know who

Had some pretty intense moments. Next week looks almost a bit TOO rediculous. Glad that the eps are finally getting interesting though. Packing it all in towards the end is great since you have to wait a week for the new ep, but I wouldn't have minded so much had they started this whole thing a little earlier.

Dexter stomping the step-dad was A+

LOL i just finished watching it, for some reason i thoguht this was the finale and i was like wtf nothings happening what a weak ass finale then at the end i thought "is this really going to be the season cliffhanger?!?!"

then i saw dc11gtr's post saying next week's ep and then the thing scrolled saying 3 eps left and i felt like a total ******.

standard in the life of snotboogy

thought this episode was actually pretty good... can't wait for it to go down between jordan and dexter

Major rebound episode! Return of Harry, got to see the monster in Dex when he beat the crap out of the guy, Deb/Quinn seems to be over, and the ending phone call is the "holy crap twist!" style why I love this show.

For the first time this season I'm hyper-excited for next week.

best episode this season. every scene made something come together. the previews are going to drive me nuts in anticipation this week.

Exactly nothing progressed on the Boyd Fowler/Jordan Chase front. OK, so maybe Dexter stole a vial of blood and the case is reopened. Does that justify 30+ minutes of the episoden showcasing various sorts of relationship angst? I could give a **** about Dexter's attempt to be a family man at this point, they've riffed on that interminably all throughout this season. Half the episode must have been consumed with Deb/Quinn, Dexter/Astor, LaGuerta/Batista making frowny, teary faces at each other. I almost feel like the show is being written towards moms as a demographic now, because they feel like they've got teens and men locked up from the show's past success. Enough of the sappy ****!

An observation, not a criticism per se: Dexter's parenting style with regards to Astor is frankly terrible, IMO it's a recipe for exploitation and deception on her part and a clever child would surely play her grandparents off vs. him. I'm pretty sure research shows that mild but firm discipline is best in those sorts of situations; e.g., taking away Astor's garish whorish makeup, calling her grandparents, and taking away her ability to socialize with her friends would have been a much better solution.

But then of course we wouldn't have the convenient segue to Dexter showing off his bad-ass-ness. Though there's nothing wrong with that -- a good ass-kicking now and then is often satisfying viscerally -- this particular scene felt a bit sadistic for my taste. Perhaps it's because it didn't feel quite realistic to me: I'm not sure a guy who beats up his stepdaughter will simply "walk away" from being punked like that even after losing face to someone who assaulted him.

Incidentally, though I hate the concept and in fact the very raison d'etre of Lumen's character, Julia Stiles is doing a fine job playing her. I was convinced of her panic near the end.

holy **** this episode made this season go from C- to A, A+ if this is true for the next 3 episodes

lumen/stiles certainly doesnt bother me as much as it used too. not even close, and there are moments of coming around but perhaps this is an element of stockholm syndrome.

dont agree with you guys on astor.

Wow, preview of the next episode looks crazy, for the first time in season 5 im eagerly waiting for next ep.

audio came back for me after 10 minutes, or so but kept leaving again so we didn't watch. It was on the same channel 2 hours later so we caught it then.

Agreed, great episode and my only issue was all the lame jokes. I know they often have them, but not so concentrated as it was in this ep. No big deal, certainly a potential season-saver if the next couple eps are great (I, too, thought this was the finale, for some reason).

Seems like Dexter is getting found out next season, I'm not sure the whole Deb/Quinn thing is finished. I don't think it's for sure, not even close, but I think it's a possibility a part of Deb believes Quinn is right to suspect Dexter. Obviously, could just be her reaction to her brother being accused, it just seemed off for that.

I like the way this season has gone, just not the execution (up to the past 2 episodes, anyway).

+1 for best episode of the season

Great ep. I also caught the preview for next week which looks pretty awesome too.

I really want Stiles to be around next season. That line where Dexter joked about killing the neighbours dog was awesome. Him having a girlfriend who not only knows but actively supports his night job is a positive change up for the show.

Also this is probably the best ive ever seen her act, she nailed that last scene and the earlier one with the TSA molesting patdown was incredible too. She really nailed the character and situation.

I liked Rita but id happily trade her for Lumen at this point in the show.

wow, can't believe astor is 18 already

Just a big no to all of this.

Dexter did kill the neighbor's dog when he was a teen, wasn't a joke. That's how he started.. with animals.

Him having a girlfriend that knows about it is okay, but a recipe for disaster, especially when it's Lumen.

It's the best you've ever seen her act because her previous "acting" was terrible at best.

Rita > Lumen by far.

Dexter should kill Lumen....that shine things up...

I didnt mean that as a joke like he made it up, i meant it was him joking/making light about his serial killing.

Spoiler:

I'm calling that the vial of blood on Jordan Chase's necklace will be Rita's. We know that Trinity had at least one accomplice, his daughter Christine who shot Deb and killed Lundy. Anyone remember what Trinity said about Christine to Dexter? "She was weak." Meaning possibly that she couldn't 'TAKE IT'.

I also think trinity was too eager to get away and too smart to risk it. Chase bled Rita out copycat style.

My guess is that Trinity, who actually killed four not three, revealed after 30 years, possibly killed more outside of the series. I'm also going out on a limb and saying that Cole, Boyd and the 3 others teenagers (at the time) were photographed by Trinity on some kind of Religious Retreat where they were born in blood.
still alive... but you posted 2x more , shoulda left it at this
