Yeah, or coked out or something. I thought he used to be kinda ripped? His face was super thin, sunken, and overly tanned.

Had a serious Six Feet Under nostalgia/ deja-vu when they were in the funeral home.

at first I was like leavin

then I funeral'd

For a second I thought Dexter shed a tear at the end of his speech but hey he got no emotions.

Astor is baaad tho.

I want more of this. My main hope for this season is that he completely abandons the code, either that or starts to gradually overwrite it with his own rules (made up as he goes along). So maybe he'd still be getting advice from Harry in his mind, but sort of a new testament of Harry where it's clearly Dexter putting words in his mouth as circumstances change. Culminating with Dexter fully understanding that he has moved past Harry's code and doesn't have any particular system of rules to follow anymore. And he does a few really terrible things along the way to reach that point.

They should have gotten Peter Krause to play the funeral director.

Also regarding the Astor scene, I don't think she is a terrible actress I just think the writing in the scene was bad, her lines were way too on the nose. Just saying what Dexter and the audience is thinking even though it makes no sense for her character.

I like the main arc for this season, but outside of MCH's acting all the execution was pretty mediocre.

i thought it was a great season opener. not really sure what you guys expected more of it. i went into thinking itd be 30 minutes of asthur horrible acting. but she had like a couple lines and they were fine.

WTF? It is one or the other, make up your mind.

I was going to subscribe to this thread, but after reading how dumb most of your comments are I will gladly pass on reading them for future episodes. I seriously wonder if you have any understanding of the characters and various dynamics that have formed in the previous seasons.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the season.

They won't.

All that's been discussed so far is how bad Astor's 4 minute acting segment was.

Was I the only one thinking about how maybe the new ancillary characters could be interesting if Dexter followed through with his plan to just leave town and start fresh somewhere else?

i def that would be pretty cool, and to me it made burning the shed make more sense...seems like a very bad idea to conveniently have a fire right outside the house the murder was committed in two days later. But if he was gonna disappear then who give a ****...

not sure if they will bring it up again, but he wasn't wearing gloves or anything when he anchor killed that dude...
09-27-2010 , 09:26 PM
That wasnt his shed.

He got a shipping container to keep his gear in when Cody fell into his shed.
09-27-2010 , 09:33 PM
ah, that makes much more sense...thanks...

Typical Dexter. The scenes with Dexter/Hall can hang with anything else on television. The scenes with the secondary characters tend to suck. What made last season and season 1 so good were that we had a villain who was compelling enough to carry the show in scenes without Hall. I question whether they'll be able to turn the intensity as high as they did for season 2 to make up for lack of a great villain.
