EB Farnum was an incredible character. He tried so hard to rise to a level approaching Al Swearengen, but just couldn't get there.

The best supporting character, imo, was Wu "Swidgen, San Francisco ****suka"

yeah i think ricky jay (played eddie sawyer in season 1) said that there was more drama behind the scenes of deadwood than there was on the show

hey guys, i've never seen deadwood but absolutely loved the wire. for the wire, i watched the first like 3-4 episodes and found it kinda boring and never got into it except i forced myself to watch it a few months later and was blown away by how good it was.

basically, is deadwood easy to get into after watchin the first few episodes or will it take some effort like it did for me to watch the wire? jus wanna make sure i dont watch the first 3 episodes then stop watching it and miss out on some greatness like when i delayed watchin the wire. (have not watched an episode yet, fwiw)

I liked Wolcott, but it annoyed me that they had Garret Dillahunt who played Jack McCall back to play him.

Ya, Deadwood will have you by the balls by the third episode easy. The show is just perfect.

Because I'm a simpleton I had to really engage myself while watching or I'd miss what they were talking about because the dialogue, like others have mentioned, is kind of dense.

Once you catch on to the characters you gotta find out what happens next.

sopranos did the same thing (vito was a civilian in S1, phil parese has a twin brother patsy), and honestly i didn't realize it was the same actor until i read it pointed out somewhere.

I must have watched 45 minutes of Youtube videos featuring Ricky Jay last night. I had no idea he was a magician/sleight of hand master. Thanks OOTV.
I did manage to crack one of his tricks. The "Sword of Vengeance" trick was pretty easy to see what was going on.

Alan Sepinwall posted on his Twitter page that Milch was a big fan of Ed O'Neill and that he was one of the stronger parts of John From Cincinnati. He then posted this which I thought was really interesting and would have changed a ton:

Most in the area consider Ricky Jay one of the greatest sleight of hand artists to ever live.

He's friends with tons of celebrity types. Pretty sure he and David Mamet are best friends.
