"Dave season two will premiere on FX Wednesday, June 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The premiere will include the first two episodes with new episodes available each subsequent week."
Ep1 was prob the worst episode of the whole series. Still got a couple of chuckles from Gata. I watched ep2 right after and thought it was better. Not sure if it’s on par with anything from s1 tho.
Ep 1 wasn't enjoyable at all. Ep 2 was better, but still not great. Have a feeling that there's going to be an insane amount of cameos. Wonder if they are going to have a much darker tone this season, similar to s2 of Atlanta.
I guess I'm the only one, I think s2 has been >> s1.
I think one thing Id argue is the weakness of season one is that the Dave’s character really fetishizes fame over substance/quality of his art, it’s not 100 to 0 but it’s enough that it’s off-putting and also the root of the reason he treats his friends and girlfriend poorly. You add all that up and it not only makes him difficult to root for but you also wonder how he’s going to find success.
I’m not saying that that’s unrealistic, I understand that in today’s world there’s tons of people purely seeking engagement at the sacrifice of quality of art, but I think (hope?) the goal of the Dave character is to learn that fame isn’t what’s important rather the substance of his art and the relationships he has in his life are what’s important. So I think season one kind of struggles with that balance whereas season two has seen more fallout from his individual shortcomings as well as growth in him as a character and as a person, which makes it easier/more enjoyable, for me, to watch and root for.
Mike listening to Dave's song about Ally was one of my favorite scenes of television I've seen in awhile. Up there with the darts scene from Ted Lasso s1.
