Finale was good but whole season was all over the place and didn't seem to have much flow. Not really sure how Dave went from having zero songs completed to dropping an album and performing at the VMAs

Even though he's just playing himself I'm really impressed by Gata's acting - he's been the best part of season two.

I think Dave, Gata and the manager all play themselves. I think the end of the dream sequence episode basically shows him unlocking his true potential as a rapper and he just banged out the rest of the album between that and the finale. Even the worst episodes still gave me some chuckles bc gata, he’s sick.

Good finale, pretty uneven season. No idea what they were trying to do storytelling-wise at pretty much any point, but there's so much good stuff in there that I'll happily keep watching.

also in s2 > s1 camp, with the exception of korea and benny blanco episodes i thought it was pretty flawless. agree the storytelling was meandering, each episode was almost standalone, loosely tied by dave's ego alienating his circle one by one. finale was sick, gata's the best.

Just finished S1 and really loved it. It gave me a bit Entourage vibes, but I enjoyed this way more. I was really surprised how many times the show got me to smile, to LOL, and even to feel emotional. A show about a man with a weird dick trying to be a rapper.

Have been a Lil Dicky fan for a few years though, maybe that colored my experience a bit .

I had never heard of Lil Dicky before the show, but yeah the above is accurate for me too. I'd never thought of the Entourage comparison, but it's actually spot on.

I’d heard of but never heard and after the first eps of season 1, I went down the rabbit hole and was blown away!!

I thought it was a weaker season but loved the finale. Actually teared up a little

Didn’t care for season 2 overall until the finale. It was A+ and pulled everything from the season together.

Just watched this whole show front to back and I was surprised how good it came out in the end. Interested to see where it goes from here.

I felt this way about season 2 but I enjoyed it. I think the chuck episode, bar mitzvah and Doja cat eps were particularly strong (IMO excellent exploration of dating and whatever the f homoerotic thing was going on there), for me weakest point was the trip episode - that feels so played out at this point. There were some quite deft moments, like I think the trope of the "surprise dinner" resolving everything between his parents is so cliche and he navigated through the resolution to that in a way that feels very real and endearing, and much more true to real life than similar attempts at that storyline have.

Overall this show reminds me of Louie and Atlanta, it's nowhere near having the polish or depth of Atlanta though. I can't remember Louie that well but I hope LD doesn't turn out to be dodgy behind the scenes. I often felt like the camerawork/tone was quite messy and I couldn't care less what happens to LD basically (something about his career is so hard to buy), but it's funny and it's just interesting. Curious to see where this goes

Season 3 has been great, even better than Season 1.

Yeah this season has been insane. I have a soft spot for Succession, but objectively, this might be the best show on TV right now.

Loving the whole season. I’m glad they went back to the season 1 formula of it being less “weird”. It’s just a straight forward funny, thoughtful at times, show.

I had no idea who Chloe Bennet was (the girl from episode 4), but my god, she’s pretty much perfect. And apparently she’ll be back in future episodes.

Didn't have an Anne Frank appearance on my bingo card for this show.

This last episode had me worried it was going to be unbearably cringy but they went a much better direction with it and yeah… Easily one of the top 3 shows currently airing.

Well, they made up for the lack on cringe in previous episodes by throwing it all in this one…… lol

just watched 3.5 eps of season 3 and wtf happened here? Halfway through ep4 and I wanna puke from how trite this is, male fantasy fulfillment at it's worst, bereft of any humor and invention and show just seems toothless in general. Sad!
