Re: Continuum

I'm really liking it after the first 6 episodes.

You can watch on showcase's website. From Canada, at least.

Re: Continuum

yeah it's ok. Nothing special. There is just literally nothing to watch so I keep watching it. It's sort off amusing. It's so obvious how the "bad guys" are actually "good guys" and want to preserve the world from total company domination. She'll have a hard time figuring that out (duhh) and will have an ethical decision to make which will be soooooo hard .

she's f hot so I keep watching :/

Well, yes and no. I thought it was going this way too and it probably still is, but some of their actions make them pretty clearly bad guys.

yeah well they have to overthrown the big corporations. Didn't you see the difference when the old man joined the group. They changed their "strategy".
Also you saw a "flashback" that the kidcomputer Alex is the old man that started the going back in time thing. It isn't a speculation.

I mean, it's not like it's subtle about the line being blurred between good guys and bad guys. It's also not as far removed as most sci fi. It's far from top tier tv but think it's better then okay.

Also, the old man was responsible for the terrorist attack in the future that killed 20k people. It's not as simple as he is there so now they're the good guys. I could easily see this going in a way in which liber8 comes back and their behaviour is responsible for the power the corporation grow to have.

I also thought the step brother may turn out to be the leader. I think curve is confusing Alex turning into cigarette smoking man but maybe there was a flashback on the step brother i missed, too.

Re: Continuum

The show happily blurs the line between good and bad guys. Liber8 have good goals but their methods of achieving those goals are entirely bad.

Btw the step brother isnt Kagame (liber8 leader), we know this because we have met Kagame's mother in the episode where Kellog's grandmother got killed.

I assume you're not just having a brain fart and it was more then just being his mother? I could just be forgetting that stepbrother's mother is dead...

Re: Continuum

I'm pretty sure the way that scene went down Kellog said to Kagame that they could test the theory on whether they could change history by killing his mother - something like "do you want to be a test subject?" - the implication is that Kagame hasnt been born yet.

It also requires that Alec didnt notice that his step-brother's mother was there when this went down or that they wouldnt have considered going and getting Kagama himself if they knew enough to know who his mother was given he would have just been chilling at the farm at that time. It wouldnt just be a twist but a huge leap of faith and doesnt seem to track with the details.

Plus it would mean that Kagame kept it a secret that his step brother was the CEO and owner of Sadtech (terrible name) who was at his execution and this just wasnt mentioned by anyone at any point in the show. I mean an anti-corporation leader who is an expert in PR and recruitment would have mentioned this at some point and Kiera would have likely learned it in some way.

moreso before Kagame returned than with him back. they mentioned the shift in tactics, and Kiera really realized it in the wrapping up of the whole Exxon (exotrol or w/e made up name) hostage situation imo. everyone on team liber8 is ex-military, except Kagame, who is ex...... buddhist?

also Alec seemed way too satisfied when the liber8 time bomb initially went off. i get the feeling he created this dystopia on accident, realized what hed done, then orchestrated the entire time bomb scenario down to ensuring Kieras presence (last second orders for her to be in the chamber, Alec shakes off head guard dude as her husband protests before the blast) in an attempt to fix it.

i like the idea of the step brother starting liber8. we dont know if Kagame actually founded them do we? its possible the brother starts it soon, builds the organization for anywhere from ~20-40 years, then Kagame (who should be just shy of 65) takes over. it feels like they made such a point to establish the conflict between the brothers it has to go somewhere, and it makes sense for Alecs distaste for his step-brothers methods to fuel his fire to build the corporate superpower.

The alternative is he likes that he created the dystopia and this is just them completing the circle where he is effectively becoming the ultimate bad guy in the show because of Liber8's actions in 2012 and that their efforts to stop the dystopic future is what ultimately creates it.

Or maybe even he creates Liber8 and is playing both sides either as a good guy or a bad guy depending on his motivations for doing so.

This. I wasn't saying that I thought he was Kagame to be clear.

Great ending. The past vision spy satellite stuff was pretty lolscifibad but I love how they are slowly bringing all the strings together on liber8's takeover.

Re: Continuum

i really hope it has/will be, this show has been the best pleasant surprise.

so many little things that are awesome, like the convo with Alec and Kiera in the pantry...
"listen Alec youve got to get us out"
"um yeah its going to be tough, theyre watching me like a hawk. oh and there is a person right outside that paper-thin door that can probably hear us right now"

"yeah i can"
lol

the sauce in the first aid bag was the perfect cap to an already great scene
