In no way would I ever say these are two of the greatest movies of all time or even close but if someone were to come down from space or if you were even forced by some extreme torture scenario to re watch only one movie until you die these two movies would probably be at the top of my list of choices.

I'm curious though if there is something sentimental there for me or it's just they are transcendent of time. I'm fairly sure I would have answered the same at any point in my life. I've got children now and my son might not be old enough to get it yet but I cannot think of one movie that's been created in the last ten years or even thirty years that would even come close for them. It will be interesting to see though. His current favorites are mostly animated so I don't think they really count but at five he really enjoyed "Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom". He loves the Jurassic Park movies as well as he is into dinosaurs but I'd think that sort of stuff passes over time.

Karate Kid and Back to the Future just feel like they are on another level to me.

It's framed and shot exceptionally well. And between Morita's performance, the Conti soundtrack and well paced story with likable characters, it has very few flaws. It clocks in at a perfect length as well. AND on top of all of this, the dialogue remains sharp and funny and hasn't aged like one might think.

And yeah, Back to the Future has similar characteristics.
Awesome posts. Back to the Future has always been a very special movie for me, too, and I've watched it many times. I haven't watched The Karate Kid since I was a teen, remember loving it, might rewatch it this week now.

Karate Kid i have watched more times than any other film
I remember on VHS before school i would watch 20-30mins each morning rinse repeat for several years

Can literally say all the lines if i had the tv on mute, its a good feel factor film and also its one of them films no matter how many times you watch it if youre flicking through channels and its on you at least watch another 15mins of it before flicking over - unless you watch it all again

Season 4 will be released in December, and there has been an announcement that it has been picked up for season 5 already.

Finally watched Season 3. It was pure gold. Love how they kept re-introducing characters from the old movies.

I saw both Karate Kid and Karate Kid II in the theater. I'm not sure I even knew Karate Kid 3 existed. Should I check it out or not even worth it? I knew about The Next Karate Kid with the chick but haven't seen that either.

Another thing, I noticed that Will Smith is an executive producer for Cobra Kai. Makes me wonder if they will ever incorporate the one with his kid into this someday. I have not seen that movie.

Will Smith’s production company had to buy the rights to Karate Kid in order to make that 2010 movie because Sony wasn’t interested in that project. That’s why his name is listed as an executive producer on Cobra Kai even though he doesn’t have anything to do with it.

But he could obviously get involved in future projects.

The movie is not the greatest, but the actor playing the Terry Silver character steals the movie. It's worth watching for his performance only. He's very funny in a weird Batman's Joker type of way. I would check it out before watching Cobra Kai season 4 as they'll have a few call backs to Karate Kid 3.

Just watched Karate Kid III. It was well worth the wait! Within the first 10 minutes of the movie they make it obvious that Terry Silver will be in the new season of Cobra Kai.

Would be hilarious if he wasn't after being teased last season, featured in the S4 marketing material and appearing in the trailer

Karate Kid III aged like fine wine. I can imagine it was absolutely terrible when it first came out. Now it's got the 80s bad movie nostalgia factor going for it.

Ya. Still cannot rank it above number 2. Number 2 has a great 80's soundtrack, a better end boss fight, the breaking of the Ice was a great scene, etc, etc. Overall it was a very reasonable sequel to the 1st one although still hold the 1st one much higher than the 2nd in terms of rewatch potential.

I don't know much of goggins outside of Vice Principals and The Righteous Gemstones but his characters were great in both those shows. Also, I'd never finished Vice Principles until about six months back but the show became a hidden surprise for me. Initially i wasn't overly impressed or super into the first season but after finally watching the second season it really came together in hilarious way.

I've just kind of avoided ever really watching much of anything from standard cable TV. There is usually a drop off in quality in those type of shows/series. Aside from Lost, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul I haven't watched much of anything that hasn't been on Netflix, HBO, or Showtime in the past two decades. Maybe I'm missing some stuff but there is just too much out there and when you add in movies and sports, life, etc, I just don't have time for all of it in my TV time.

Justified won esteemed character actress Margo Martingale an Emmy.

You also don't watch Tarantino movies?
