Season 3 was elite **** - hilarious - very nearly on par with season 1. Bravo.

They definitely called one of the soldiers "Silver" in one of the Vietnam flashbacks.

Thought it was a definite step up from Season 2. And with no incoming knowledge of guest roles, thought Chosen showing up was amazing (where I immediately had to watch the next episode), but was immensely disappointed to realize S10 was the end, with no All-Valley tournament.

Yea, it was good.

"According to ProductionWeekly, filming is scheduled to take place in Atlanta from January 20 to April 15.

The first two seasons of Cobra Kai had a turnaround time of about six months from filming to premiere. Season 3, however, took a year. Based on those schedules, we're guessing that season 4 is released in late fall 2021."

Bingo. The show didn't so much drag, as it was still very watchable. But it felt bloated and padded, like they know they are onto something and want to milk it for as long as possible.

I mean what actually "happened"? Miguel got better, Robby got punished and jaded, Hawk had redemption, Sam was afraid then wasn't, Tori didn't change, Dmitri became less of a nerd. Johnny and Daniel didn't really do much of anything, other than act as centerpieces for the show. The funny thing was despite all this we had a grand total of one scene with Anthony, who I figured had to have been recast but apparently was the same kid - boy did he change!

Just kidding of course.....

Spoiler:
....but we did get the back story of John Kreese and how the vision of cobra kai's(his motto) was formed and that was in that of him fighting his rotten superior to the death over a cobra pit in Vietnam. This sets us up perfectly for season 4. I expect the All Valley tournament to be cancelled again after the news of an involved karata dojo's home invasion on another dojo. This will force Kreese to suggest that him and Johnny battle to the death over a cobra pit to solve their differences instead. For some reason Johnny will agree to it and with the help of Daniel train to fight Kreese.

In the finally of season 4 Johnny and Kreese will fight to the death. Daniel with help train Johnny in the art of Mijagi Do to help mix more defense in his game. Meanwhile Kreese will freshen up on his technique with his former partner Terry Silver, possibly also getting some help from Mike Barnes, karate's aging badboy. The kids will sort of sit on the sidelines waiting for it to all play out yet during the death match battle, Kreese will have Johnny hanging off the bridge of a snake pit. As Kreese spouts "No Mercy" and proceeds to attempt to kick Johnny off the bridge, Robbie will come flying in from the rails crane kicking his current sensei, Kreese off the bridge and into the snake pit to his death. Faith and balance are restored to the universe and to Johnny's vision of Cobra Kai.

S3 was fine, but

Spoiler:
there was a lot of fan service in such a short season, with Chozen, Tomiko, Ali with an i. It's pretty fair to say none of the characters really progressed in any meaningful way - Miguel is back where he was at the end of S1. Sam has never changed at all. Tory never changed. Hawk randomly switched sides which didn't feel very authentic. Aisha, who I think was basically replaced as the long term rival of Sam by Tory, just vanishing.

The climatic Kreese/Johnny/Daniel fight at the end should have had more lasting consequences - someone getting seriously injured or maybe arrested or who knows.

It was just a filler season and I actually don't quite get the love for it. Watchable but just ok.

Pretty sure he used that exact phrase to Kreese in Karate Kid 3.

I thought Season 3 was much better than Season 2. I agree with some of the complaints but overall I enjoyed it. They do such a great job with the callbacks and there are so many subtle ones that make it so much fun to watch.

No idea what season/episode I'm on, but its the one where the kobra kai kids break into Daniel's house and fight the other two do jos. There's only so much reality we can spend, how are we expect this is real life lol

I think the show already jokes on itself with the whole Karate being such a relevant thing in the All Valley in 2020. I mean, where are the local football teams, etc? The city council member even mentioned it at that city meeting with the line, "I don't understand the big deal about Karate in this town." or something of that nature.

There is almost no way they could have made this show and continued it in any sort of reality while still maintaining so much focus on the Karate and with the movies being so heavily focused on the karate and the bully theme, etc they sort of just carried it over to the show.

It actually worked really well for a season in some sort of reality but I think that was because we were catching up on Johnny and Daniel's current lives, and the karate mixed into that well but there was enough plot outside of the karate that we actually cared about in the show.

Now that we know where everyone stands what are they suppose to do, if they are still attempting to have so much of the focus still be based from the original movie themes? The only thing they can do is bring back guys like Kreese, etc or throw in more villains to create additional rivalries, etc but at some point it's just repeating itself and if they attempt to try to go a different direction it will start to feel like a completely different show, like say if they try to turn it into a "One Tree Hill." type of show. In that show basketball was sort of in the background focus of the relationships going on, etc. It worked as a teen drama show but is that really what people want or expect from Cobra Kai?

I'd rather watch what we've been watching even if alot of it seems farfetched or even filler it's been a fun ride and brings back so many good memories from the originals. One more season should be good enough though imo.

As much as I enjoyed this season, this scene almost killed it for me. It was a special kind of stupid....

best part of the show is LaRusso's hot wife. hubba hubba

I'm getting a little tired of Daniel and Johnny coming together but then having a fight and breaking up again, tho. Put them together for good or make them enemies for life.

Nerd talk here but re watched "The Karate Kid" again as it's also currently on Netflix and it's just as amazing as I remembered it as a kid. It's also probably up there with one of the movies I've watched the most in my life time. Back to the Future would probably be slightly ahead of it. I was born in 79'. In no way would I ever say these are two of the greatest movies of all time or even close but if someone were to come down from space or if you were even forced by some extreme torture scenario to re watch only one movie until you die these two movies would probably be at the top of my list of choices.

I'm curious though if there is something sentimental there for me or it's just they are transcendent of time. I'm fairly sure I would have answered the same at any point in my life. I've got children now and my son might not be old enough to get it yet but I cannot think of one movie that's been created in the last ten years or even thirty years that would even come close for them. It will be interesting to see though. His current favorites are mostly animated so I don't think they really count but at five he really enjoyed "Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom". He loves the Jurassic Park movies as well as he is into dinosaurs but I'd think that sort of stuff passes over time.

Karate Kid and Back to the Future just feel like they are on another level to me.

I agree, the first film is somewhat magical. I've watched it 2-3 times in the last few years and I always come away with something new. It's a very underrated movie from a technical standpoint. It's framed and shot exceptionally well. And between Morita's performance, the Conti soundtrack and well paced story with likable characters, it has very few flaws. It clocks in at a perfect length as well. AND on top of all of this, the dialogue remains sharp and funny and hasn't aged like one might think.

And yeah, Back to the Future has similar characteristics.
