i binged it. the nostalgia was A+. so-so on the show.
Spoiler:
i dont know if this requires spoilers, but i thought the writing was kind of lazy with the kid characters, you take the outcasts that are bullied and train them to stand up for themselves and then all of a sudden in the last episode they are suddenly *******s? like miguel was super decent thewhole show and then as Johnny is getting better he suddenly 180's and becomes the villian? and we're supposed to root for the kid that robbed people? seemed like it didnt know what it wants to be.

I think it was written in a way where characters aren't definitely good or bad. Everything is a matter of context and perspective.

Johny has trauma from a violent and controlling father figure. He's a depressed alcoholic. He deals with all of this the only way he knows how (the Kobra Kai way). He teaches that way to the next generation. There are consequences to this. The cycle continues.

Teaching a bullied kid with a cleft lip to strike first, strike hard, no mercy is going to have consequences.

i get it, i just dont think they developed that. i mean hawk's strike first make an alpha move was some talk, and the idea to have an all inclusive party before the mean kids could have one.

like take for example, Never Back Down 2. that was a crap movie.
Spoiler:
but in it the charcter of the one fighter was developed so you saw nerdy emo kid that gets bullied, kid trains really hard, starts to take things to far, finds the kids that bullied him and beats them up unprovoked, takes things to far in training, gets kicked out. cheats in tournament. that didnt happen in this. you see hawk make a stray comment, and miguel get drunk in a ten second scene and try to push someone. other than that they are perfectly normal kids. i guess i just don't understand why they didnt build that up outside of class, to have the teacher genuinely realize his methods at the tourney. they just short cut it.

soprry if excessive spoilers, idgaf about spoilers at all ever, but i know people here get touchy.

There are some rehearsal and audition videos from the Karate Kid on youtube. My first thought was: wow, Macchio was a natural and a great child actor, then I found out he was about 25 years old. Also, Elisabeth Shue is lucky she got the part. Morita and Macchio were put on this earth for those two parts.

Since we have enough people who fell into the nostalgia aspect, which was the better movie... 1 or 2?

It probably needed another episode. Miguel doesn't get girls, he finally gets one and gets jealous easily. Pretty standard. Johnny likes Hawks turnaround until he sees the overly aggressive ways turned on his son. Johnny realizes he made a mistake at the end and probably would try and back down a bit until his svengali shows up. I think he teams up with Larusso in S2.

Finally binged this over the weekend. I couldn't turn it off. Most fun show I've seen in a long time.

I felt the same. I have trouble grinding through most shows these days. I'm 2 episodes behind westworld and I don't even wanna watch. This just flew by and was super enjoyable.

Was one of the funner shows in recent memory. The only nostalgic moment that made me roll my eyes was "Daniel's gonna coach? DANIEL'S GONNA COACH!!" But that was it.

I am struggling with Westworld and Handmaid's Tale. I am a few behind and not sure I will start them back. I can't recall a show that was an easier watch than Cobra Kai. For me, it has been the most entertaining show of 2018 by far.

That was tons of fun. I'm not even sure how I ended up watching it in the first place since it seemed like such a terrible idea, but somehow they managed to make it work far better than it had any right to.

Zabka really carried the show. Everybody else was fine, he was fantastic.

Liked the show a lot, but one complaint: Miguel turned from super likeable guy to douche in, like, one episode, in a way that makes no sense for his character at all. It's like the writers needed a villain so they're like "oh, okay, you're bad now Miguel". LAZY. DO BETTER!

tbh paying 11$ to have access to youtube originals(not that many so far) no more adds on youtube + youtube music/play music is a pretty decent deal already.

Can't wait for this. Season 1 was probably the most enjoyable show I watched last year.
