The theismann injury is alluded to all the time in sports, not getting the reference would have little to do with age.

I could understand no one caring about the Theismann joke because he's a total tool now. I didn't really understand why they even thought he was a good joke subject, though he is kind of a joke now, maybe not even kind of.

I think they were just trying to work in football-related stuff, and that's the guest that they were able to get.

I could be wrong on the timeline, but it seemed like after they found out they'd be getting a post-Super Bowl spot, they started adding football content. For example, the cold open football game against the FD was great, but it didn't relate to the rest of the episode at all, and in retrospect, seems written in later.

I don't have any clue why they'd think they need to theme it. It was a really good episode that could easily have stood with no football references or gimmick castings.

Boyle is the ****ing MAN! Another outstanding episode. So many good jokes and hilarious situations. The writers are doing such a great job; all 3 storylines were fantastic.

"I was born for politics: I have great hair, and I love lying."

"We're both Carries!"

"My feelings are spraying out of me like a fire hose!"

Anyone find it strange that Peralta watches Jeopardy?

Average episode for the series imo. Does give a bit more characterization but not full blown comedy like the party episode.

Also, read an article that Santiago could be the next Alison Brie/Annie from Community. Thoughts?

Hmmmm. Got a link to that article? I'm in serious doubt, but it could be a decent read.

Elite, elite opening. Every word of the Dad stuff was gold.

Agree it was just a so-so ep overall though. The Jake and Gina stuff was too much, they should have worked their relationship in over a couple eps. Out of nowhere they tell us that they grew up together and are like BFFs?! Weird thing to suddenly throw in.

I learned it was because Samberg and Peretti really did grow up together, which is cool, but for show purposes, they should have referenced it and given them more back story, before devoting an entire ep to their relationship. Still had some moments and good lines though.

"You call gum the dentist."

"Oh no...Santiago in B flat...you're disappointed."

That was a very fun ep. Not sure how far/long they're going to go with Peralta's crush on Amy, but it's fine for the moment. It could easily fall off the rails if they're not careful. The show will recover nicely and probably quickly if they do, but I'd rather them not waste it if they're not going to do it right.

I love this show so much. It's firmly in elite territory. Only time will tell if we can put it up with the goats.

I want to make love to this show and have its babies!

Rosa was so ****ing awesome this ep.

"If you're going to bag evidence like a 5 year old, you should have the proper tools...it's a My 1st Police Kit...the walkie talkie blows bubbles."

"I'll try. I'm sorry."
"Please Diaz...don't make a scene."

And of course Charles and Jake material killed.

"Ahhh...hot hot...spicy cake...why?!?!"

"Reading his vows as a recipe...1 teaspoon of eternal love...a dash of peeing with the door open!"

Didn't comment last week, but that was another elite episode, especially with its hyper-mega-elite STD opening, almost every line was quotable.

I think they're giving Holt too much screentime. His scenes are quickly becoming my least favorite.

I prefer him now, with a bit more character, than when they kept playing off the fact he was completely emotionless. I felt that joke got pretty stale.

I mean he showed his character in the party episode without much screentime. I am glad he is getting fleshed out, but I don't think he needs that much time to do it.

I mean, they're all getting time though. It's a true ensemble (with a lead, but everyone else getting a good amount of time). Is there anyone who's not getting enough time?

Also, Holt is there for the others to play off of. Need him to be in the scene sometimes, for the other characters to shine. He was in the C plot storyline, so it's not like he gobbled up the screen.

Anyway, no biggie. They're all good.

Favorite character rankings, anyone? (No wrong opinions imo.)

1. Boyle
2. Holt
3. Jeffords (aka Terry Cruz)
4. Diaz
5. Samberg
6. Santiago
7. Linetti (aka Chelsea Peretti)

Every character is pretty great and shines in different episodes. This was surprisingly difficult to do actually

Scully would be somewhere in my top 3 and Diaz would be the nut low.

The amusing thing is that the only two characters you chose to identify with their real names are exactly the two characters whom I don't know their character names -- are their names really that obviously infrequent?

I'd go

Boyle
Peralta
Jeffords
Santiago

The rest are about the same. I really wanted to rank Santiago higher since I think she's ridic hot, but the other three are just much better.
