Surprisingly good after what I thought were very bad previews. It's not total genius, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Makes Fox's Tues lineup even stronger IMO.
There was a lot of great stuff in that episode. It was the first episode where Crews stepped out of his one note, and he was entertaining. Gina was also funny in several spots, as well. They're still going to tweak a few of the characters a little bit, but all the performers are almost there.
Anyone else notice that Jake still never wears a tie?
Solid. Not super lol, but enjoyable. Show is getting better "crafted," but missing some of the hilarious absurdness of the initial eps. Was initially close to the boundary of over-the-topness, which made it either great or fall flat, but has dialed it back a bit to stay comfortably amusing and less hit or miss.
Cast gets more and more likeable. Rosa seems hotter and hotter.
Samberg's William Wallace sounded a lot like Groundskeeper Willie.
Am I the only one that feels like this is basicly Parks & Rec with cops?
You should easily identify who Leslie, Swanson, Ann, April, Jerry and Andy is by just reading this sentence and thinking about the Brooklyn Nine characters.
At least I can. And that's just by thinking about it for a minute.
I generally dislike Halloween and holiday themed episodes with a passion, but this one had a lot of good moments. They probably went to the well a little too often with the sex tape jokes, but the first couple were nice. Hitchcock wanting to spend the $50 on two new suits was pretty classic, as was the entire caper. I also loved the Braugher mustache moment. Would like to see that as a pic.
So far, I think this is the best new network show of the season, and I expect it to get exponentially better over time.
Outtakes of this show could be good for the extra lines. They probably had several more sex tape title jokes, and other types of alternate punchlines for jokes in every ep.
That's guaranteed, will make for a very good DVD/Blu-ray extra. In the cold open, it was funny how they held just long enough for you to be able to notice that the room was just about to start cracking up. I really do wonder how many of these lines are ad libbed. There is a ton of editing going on in the show, too, though, who knows, maybe it's as tightly scripted as Veep.
I just marathoned all the eps except the pilot up to the halloween ep. I'm in. It absolutely has a pnr vibe which I love. I hope we get more than a few more pnr eps before it's cancelled if it does get cancelled I def see b99 taking it's place.
Lol'ed hard at Jake "annoying him into talking." The guitar cacophony plus screaming was so terrible it was funny. Each ep needs a couple good doses of Samberg goofiness.
Liked the balance of characters. And the Captain helping Terry at the end.
And "Yeah, but I have to prove that I'm not selfish, so I don't care what they want!"
Haven't seen the last episode yet, but I'm finding this show extremely enjoyable. No real extended story lines to follow, but easy, entertaining viewing.
I just wathced all 5 seasons of PnR, and this show is noticeably more entertaining. I don't know if it's because I watched too many episodes at once and there are only 7 of this one though.
