-The chemistry equipment being stolen from the lab at Walt's school.
-Walt's early connection with Jesse, which eventually led him to Tuco.
-**Someone calling his personal cellphone with the fake news that Marie had been hospitalized, just when he was about to get into the trailer.
-The security cam tape of Walt and Jesse stealing the drum of methylamine.
-Walt showing up and distracting Hank when they're doing the sting with Badger.
-Walt crashing the car when they're about to check out the laundromat, which he now knows hid a meth lab.
-The dubious blackjack story.
-Walt's occasional ramblings that make him look even more suspicious, like the recent one about how Gale was someone's student.

What else am I missing? Definitely enough for him to finally figure it out.

the car crash one is the most obvious. once he thinks about it, he is going to realize that Walt knew what he was going to find, thats why he crashed the car for no good reason.

disagree. I think walt is delusional and drunk with power. he thinks he's a big man now and can take what is his. i'm not even sure if skylar isn't completely on board. i think she might be both afraid and intrigued.

okay, if this is accurate (that gilligan specifically called it rape) then I obv misread the scene.

yea kinda this but I agree with the poster that said there's power involved. he wants to take what he perceives as his. i just don't think walter sees it as rape. I guess I'm in between this pov and the power pov.

He knows something is wrong with Skylar, and that's how he likes it, because she ****ed him over pretty bad and went to bed with another man after stealing his money (again, in his mind, not in ours.) He enjoys seeing her as this week, cowering person who he feels he has full control over, because Walt is all about control. What better way to display dominance than having non-consensual sex with the woman who did him wrong?
i don't think he's doing anything to get back at skyler.

part of why walter has succeeded for so long under hank's nose is that hank thinks he's weak and inept. if hank had known gale, he wouldn't've realized gale was a meth cooker, either. hank would need hard evidence that walt is involved otherwise he simply will not suspect him.
07-25-2012 , 02:07 PM
I think Hank needs to find something more to put those pieces together. I think he wouldn't imagine in a million years a guy like Walt would be behind all this crap. Looks like an ordinary guy to him probably.
It's like finding out your mother cooks meth or something, you just don't suspect that out of the blue.

Didn't is stop because Skylar kicked him out?

Hadn't thought of it before, but maybe learning that a nerd like Gale could be a meth cook might also make Hank consider that a pushover like Walt could be one too.
There's also the "WW" dedication in the notebook, which could factor into the case no matter what its original meaning.

Im not sure where you are reading intrigued. In the two scenes she appeared last week she was petrified.

Agree totally, some of you guys are way overestimating how easy it would be for Hank to believe this even if the thought had crossed his mind.

@ mikechike

Also add the fact that Walt wasn't around in lockdown when they heard the news of the Death of Gus.

I'm always wondering about the phone calls these guys make.
Like when Mike called to Walt that he is in. When Mike is on the suspects list isn't it easy to get permission to wiretap phone calls? I understand there is a possibility not even knowing the numbers, but still i would not expect them to talk so casually about business over the phone.
Walt even talked with Gus over the phone.
Even small time street dealers on the wire didn't talk so casually.

Obviously i have no idea about the real world scene of that kind of business, but it seems obv thing from the "not to do" list.

Maybe im just nitpicking

It's pretty well-established that they are all using "burner" phones, pre-paid cell phones purchased with cash. We've also seen characters break their phones repeatedly, implying that they will get a new one.

I assume that Mike and Gus use burners.

Yeah I'm familiar with burners, i guess i have just missed those scenes.

uh...wtf is your avatar?
07-25-2012 , 04:14 PM
lol...last week it's the stupid magnet talk. Now, it's the "roomba" talk. Jesse does not know about the ricin. We can take the scene where he cries about almost killing Walt at face value. He was upset about THAT and that only.

iirc this show also doesn't really have a history of tricking us into believing that a scene actually means the exact opposite of how it initially appears; we the audience have been getting a generally accurate picture of what's going on, and I don't think Gilligan would suddenly switch that up in such an important scene without more cues to the viewer that Jesse knows what Walt is up to.
07-25-2012 , 05:06 PM
goofy, while I agree that I don't think Jesse planned the whole thing as a trap, the entire second season was based around tricking us. The initial poisoning was also pretty tricky.
07-25-2012 , 05:23 PM
I'll bet Jesse figures it out and tries to kill Walt with the ricin.

What about when it turned out that Jesse didn't shoot Gale?

Fly: Yeah, that's fair, but this show isn't trying to confuse you as to what characters are doing, necessarily. The poisoning gets resolved in-episode, and the 2nd season trickery has nothing to do with characters - it's just a weird foreshadowing device.
07-25-2012 , 05:37 PM
The roomba didn't give Jesse his "aha" moment because he's not suspecting Walt atm, but I think he'll definitely figure it out eventually. That or Walt will tell him.
07-25-2012 , 05:38 PM
True, I'd also say that there's no real reason for Jesse to run a sting operation like that, figure out Walt did it, and then act normally for the rest of the episode.

That sort of "a character acting weird to build drama for the audience" is the sort of trickiness that hasn't happened. The flashforwards in S2, Ted not being dead... those were the camera tricking the audience, not a character tricking the audience.

My money is that Saul tells Jesse as Walt goes further and further down the road of being insane.

how do u even get a hold of burners? Everywhere that sells phones has a store camera or at least a vast majority do. Do ppl buy them online using a vpn and hacked network or both, and ship to a foreclosed home? Even if they found a store with no cameras it would only be so long before the DEA would have the store under constant surveillance.
