does anyone still think hank knows about walt?
in ep 02 it seems like he saw the video footage before it was destroyed, at least that's what they want you to think.
I think if that was the case, today will be the last day for him to reveal that.
I know some stuff that happened after makes this less likely, but still..

Hank says he managed to peek at the laptop before the evidence room debacle, but it was encrypted and he doubts they'd have gotten much off it anyway.

Cliff hanger end of episode prediction is that Hank has to get a huge leap towards figuring out its Walt

Odds tonights ep has a flash forward?

Which is ironic, because it means that all walt and crew accomplished with "The Great Magnet Caper" was to break Fring's photo and reveal the off shore account numbers to the police

Of course, it could be a dream!
Actually, that only tells us that he lived long enough to celebrate the birthday on his fake ID.

Just re-watched e7

Walt flips and decides to kill Mike when Mike tells him he should have "known his place". It's clearly an impulsive, ego-driven reaction. Am I right in saying that this is the first time Walt has killed anyone without significant advance planning and/or a strong motive?

I agree the cliffhang will be related to Hank finding out it's Walt, he'll either do so just before the episode's end or will be on the verge.

I hope it's that, actually, because I'll be expecting it and be able to deal with it better. If they cliffhang some ****ed-up new **** that blows my mind it'll be that much worse for me.

yes, there's only that. he could have easily have lied to protect walt's/his family.
he also stares at gomey and makes a weird face when his boss says gus used to have dinner with him and the key to everything was in his face.

I'm not saying he knows about walt, It was just an odd scene and I won't be VERY surprised if it happens

That's weird, because Breaking Bad is definitely more pulpy and sensationalistic than Mad Men, which I thought would be right up Ellis' alley.

I was thinking about this too. It is definitely the first time Walt kills someone (or has someone killed) who doesn't somehow threaten his self-preservation.

Depends on how you want to classify Jane's death. Clearly that wasn't planned. The key contrast between Jane's and Mike's deaths is that Walt was a passive player with Jane. Plus I guess he did have a strong motive to get her out of the picture.

So yeah, Mike's killing is the first time he was both impulsive and proactive without a strong motive. Which is the only way he would be able to kill Mike. Unpredictable was Mike's kryptonite.

Fits the pattern of Walt hitting a new low in the penultimate episode of each season....

We know it's going to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen tonight. It's almost too predictable plus that particular cliffhanger has already been done*.

Spoiler:
with Dexter. Although I'm sure BB can do it better.

One thing that is clear to me is that we're in for more of a Season 3-type ending than a Season 4-type ending. It is going to be a long ass wait until next summer...

So excited. Hoping Walt kills someone again.

I must say, this american thing of taking a long mid-season break in a top drama series is a real pain in the backside for viewers

eh. BEE has characters that would do what walt does now an that would be normal. breaking bad is too moralist for his liking. he's more about the raw sex appeal and, well, hot guys.

Agreed.

When they first announced the split season I actually thought it was cool. I assumed there would be a short break between the first and second halves. An extended final season seemed like a great idea.

Now it's pretty clear that there will be a Season 5 and a Season 6, both shortened. Given where we are at this point, it seems they could have easily done two full 13-episode seasons.

That said, Breaking Bad is still the best show on TV right now.
