no, where did u get this from? he was obviously grooming him for this exact sort of thing

Then suddenly the thread has to deal with people who are watching a show that isn't really the show they want it to be.
What frustrates me about this show, is that there are some very solid scenes from a grown up program in there, but there is also a ton of crap that belongs in a day time soap opera.

I dont see what having seen the black doctor added to that scene really. Also i think the actor is good but some of his lines were pretty awful.

Him bringing in a random black doctor wouldn't have any import at all - it changes the dynamic of that scene for the character to be someone we know. Especially in light of the fact that Eddie is in a similar boat to Samuel - Eddie used to just be Nucky's secretary, but now he's handling pistols and being shot at. Everything these guys touch turns rotten.
They devoted like two scenes to Samuel; why would the viewer put any weight on his presence? It is not that these episodes are not related, just that they there fails to be any set up, continuum or progression from one event to another. It is all too episodic and fragmented to be any real good drama.

I enjoy learning a little bit about each character. I enjoy the introspection and internal conflict that each character is challenged with. In a show that does nearly everything well, IDGAF if not every piece of awesomeness somehow fits perfectly in a grand scheme.
It is hard to enjoy the amazing sets, actors, dialogue and interaction when the things you are watching do not make much sense, or seem to have very little purpose behind them. For a show that spells everything out for you, it also leaves loose ends and people wondering.

It is not that some characters do not play pivotal roles in key plots, but that they are given very erratic screen time, making you question, why they are even there. like for example, wtf happened to Paz La Huerta This show struggles heavily with the scope it took on and dramatic angles it decided to focus on. It is pretty clearly why the consensus goat episode happens, when all the stupid drama takes back seat to the bread and butter of this show.

I'm more concerned about the her sons behavior, her woman's health classes, and hoping to see a large portion of this episode dedicated to showing how sad she is.

Chalky didn't want his son-in-law to get involved in his gangster side, now he's been forced for that to happen. That story built to last week's moment.
did u get this from? it was obvious this is exactly what he was grooming him for. he changed his whole stance on him, when he found out he was a doctor and would be useful.

The moment in Richard's story where he met with Nucky and established that he was cool with seems like it will become important as they presumably side together vs. Gyp (and maybe Gillian to some degree).
no ****? that one moment is sure some fine build up

This isn't just everybody randomly ending up in the same place at the same time- these are plotlines that were arced to put everybody together. IF that's not "tying together" I'm not sure what is.
it's more like trying to tie together, but ending up with a bunch of random knots

Excited for tonight but unhappy that this is it until next year. Can't wait to see who Harrow puts some lead into tonight.

Why did I think this was on at 10? Catching the encore right after the walking dead. Jealous of you watching it now but I'm too deep to tune in now.

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Only let down was the way Gyp finally went. Thought there'd be some epic scene, not some guy saying sorry. Wasn't that the guy who's cousin he beat with the shovel? Why would he say sorry?

Everything else was great. ?'s....

Is Jillian dead or just drugged?

Did they set up Rothstein and Masseria too?

The Harrow takeover scene was the nuts. What was the meaning of the Nuckys rose coming off?
