Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

WOW. Incredible episode, with Capone's last line instantly becoming one of my favorite lines that I've ever seen in movies or television.

And for everyone complaining about the Chalky storylines that the show's writers seemed to introduce and drop (potential son-in-law who's a doctor, Chalky stopping by to ask about the club, Chalky making spot cameos in general), they tied those scenes together and made them a lot more relevant in this episode. They also spent time this season on Eli's loyalty and path back into Nucky's trust, as well as Nucky picking up Mellon's distillery, and those plot developments tied into this episode as well.

It's very rare for an episode to be so good that it makes the preceding episodes look even better and for the story to make more sense in the grande scheme of things. This one did that.

In historical hindsight, Capone is probably a good guy to align yourself with around this time.

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Started getting really excited as soon as I saw this:

Then Capone's line.. wow.

It was still awesome despite it being exactly what we knew was coming. I can't see any way that the finale isn't amazing.

Is it just a normal length episode? Last season was 2 hours or something from memory?

Edit - Just saw the posts on the last page where someone said maybe 90 mins.

Richard, Tommy, or Julia is about to bite some serious dust. Maybe all 3 but if all 3 survive the finale I would be completely shocked.

What about Gillian? She's a candidate to bite it as well.

Where'd you get the screen capture? Any way someone can get a shot of Capone after delivering the last line?

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

so Richard fully understands that Nucky killed Jimmy, but he's ok with it b/c he somehow perceives it to be a soldier's death? I guess it's just lucky coincidence he'll be aligning himself on Nucky's side due to him wanting to protect Tommy, but I guess I just don't quite get who is he supposed to be going after in the finale.

I would guess Gyp's henchmen, Julia's dad, and Gillian in order of likelihood.

I'm gonna say Harrow kills Gillian and runs off with Tommy. Where did the scene with Harrow and him getting his guns in order take place? Gyps guys tossed him outta the whore house after Gillian said to leave right?

I assume it's still in the whorehouse. Maybe he pulled something like "just let me grab my things from my room on the way out".

Arguably the finest hour of BE right there. And no Margaret. Coincidence?
Actually it was arguably the finest hour of television. Did not want it to end.

I was one who questioned the relevance of Chalky's character, but he is now pivotal as to where this all goes. The guy who played his daughters boyfriend as the doctor was brilliant.

Luciano getting arrested was also interesting. Guess this means we'll be seeing more of Bugsy Seigal with Lansky.

Can't wait for next week!

Interactive feature on HBOGO shows the scene where Harrow is telling Jimmy about his arsenal and the exact same guns are in this episode. Small details FTW.

WRT Harrow's guns, he still may very well have a room in a boarding house or wherever he stayed before moving into the whore house.

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

I think Gillian will survive. She's a crafty beotch who realized she made a bad choice alligning with gyp.

I'm glad Capone did come to NJ at the end of this season. Hopefully they save the inevitable showdown with obanion for next season.

Chalky and his crew were unreal levels of good.

Lucky is going to prison just in time to avoid a bloodbath with some of his new found allies in NYC.

And as always, I'm psyched to see how AR will fit in....

Not enough love for Gretchen Mol...her character is devious and evil and compelling, and she plays it brilliantly.

This and the Easter episode were pure brilliance.

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Incredible, incredible episode. I loved the Nucky/Eddie relationship scenes almost as much as the ending. They really did a great job of highlighting how the person Nucky arguably appreciates the least - Eddie - is actually the one person left in his life he can really trust. Eddie's whole life is about taking care of Nucky, and Nucky only just realised that.

That last line was just so amazing. I think the whole episode is probably top five television episodes of all time. Cannot wait for next week.

compelling is a stretch. I think we're just about done with that character. Sadly, she's kind of a "name" so she'll probably live.

it's gonna suck when Richard has a gun on Gillian, Tommy walks in the room and distracts him, we get the classic little kid and monster shot, allowing enough time for someone to off Richard. C'mon no times!
