I think it's pretty clear that the guy whose cousin Gyp rage-murdered is going to be involved in bringing him down. Why would the show even have us spending time with him otherwise?

Maybe because it's Boardwalk Empire and we have a million irrelevant stories running at the same time?

it seems like all the stories are starting to interconnect , atleast becoming clear as to their purpose.

don't see any storylines that can be considered irrelevant aside from Harrow/Gillian, and Gillian has had at least a small hand in the troubles of Nucky (trying to help Gyp kill him)

i hope they bring back her family that she ran away from, tie that in with her daughter with polio, her crazy pyromaniac son and bring the focus again on her religious crisis and struggle with nucky's evil profession . i also hope nucky will start beating her and she'll soon have an affair with harrow.

Maybe I'm being nitty, but I thought it was odd that in the previous ep Nucky had tinnitus, blurred vision, concussion, blackouts, couldn't comprehend what was being said to him, wasn't thinking clearly, etc. Yet this ep all that had gone and he was fine, like nothing had ever happened, even though not a lot of time had progressed in the show between eps. Quite a miraculous and swift recovery.

there's more and it doesn't hurt that every single one of those things is extremely cliche

that was Gyp Rosetti causing the fire, not the son.

you realize this is all encompassed by concussion right? He also complained of a headache in one of the meetings, so its not like he was completely recovered. Considering NFL players immediately re-enter games after suffering concussions, consistently, you're being pretty nitty

I've never been concussed and am not a doctor, so no.

Probably not the best use of an example to support your argument given the current legal attention slamming the use against such practices of sending concussed players back on the field.

I'll accept though that my initial observation is a nit.

Yea, this is nitty, but a reference or two could have been worked in easily and successfully. Little things make a show great.

I guess I'm wrong about Gyp, but Owen confirms that it wasn't the son. Guess I got confused with him always referring to a Gypsy

Quote:
Over breakfast, Margaret quizzes the kids on state capitols. Her daughter’s doing really, really well. Sleater comes in and Margaret goes to speak to him. He tells her that they caught the vagrant who was wandering the neighbourhood and that he apparently lit the fire to keep warm and it got out of hand. But it’s all been taken care of and he won’t be coming around again.
Quote:
She asks him if the vagrant was real (he was) and admits she thought Teddy started the fire and she punished him for it. He tells her the kid will get over it.
