Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Is it implied he burned down the greenhouse? Seems more like we don't know who did that, and know that he tried for neighbors but didn't pull it off.

Also, it wasn't like he was setting fires or wanting to set fires because he wants to see stuff burn for the sake of burning. Seems to me like it's more tied to acting out over daddy issues.

Not saying he's not a bit screwed up, but little kids are screwed up, and I think it's a jump to say "he's crazy".

Didn't they show him last season to be weirdly interested in the polio fire and also when Nucky torched his dad's house? I think they are clearly setting the story line that he is a pyromaniac.

He's so good that Im torn on whether Id prefer they force him into story lines where it clearly isnt necessary, like last week. Hopefully he actually has some legit part in the story coming up soon.

im gonna say something blasphemous to most of you... I don't care about Chalky or Michael K. Williams. I've never seen him play anything but the character he always plays. **** head, put on tough guy face, say something threatening in that low raspy delivery. Dude seems like one of the least versitle actors that everyone on the planet loves.

**** = rooster

He's the man left in the house and he wants to defend it. I don't think that screams atypically unstable for an age where nobody is that stable.

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

The Teddy stuff got a little chilling once he pulled a knife on his sister. I was on the edge of my seat when Margaret was wandering around with her shotgun. I'm not sure how far they're willing to go with it, and maybe his character's fckedupedness is not completely earned (not on AJ Soprano level anyway), but Teddy is the biggest ticking time bomb the show has at the moment, and that's saying something.

Her story might be terrible, but lol at her being ugly, let alone "ugly as hell". She's smoking.

Definitely not.

She's decent, but her nose and jawline are awful.

-I agree, Billie is not hot. Cute, sure.

-Teddys behavior is more than just 'kids will be kids' imo.

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Billie is not supposed to be gorgeous. If she were she probably wouldn't need Nucky's help. I'm not really sure why Nucky loves her, but whatever.

I think she doesn't have a particularly good face for cameras though. There have been a few shots where the shadows on her face (especially her cheeks) make her look like the two face from Seinfeld.

Definitely think the kid burned down the greenhouse.

Forgot Chris McDonald was in Happy Gilmore. I usually think of him in his role in Requiem. He does get a lot of **** roles, but he's still a good actor and has been in a few good ones as well: Requiem, Broken Flowers, SLC Punk

I didn't think that the knife Teddy had looked particularly menacing; more like a butter knife than a switchblade or machete. But good for him for trying to protect his family from the demons in his head. Seems like he might end up medicated and in a straightjacket.

In a recent episode she mentions to Nucky what her father always said to her, "always on the move, but going nowhere fast." She is still unable to escape her father's influence.

The person Nucky is today has everything to do with his negative early experiences with his father, for better and worse. Billie doesn't feel anywhere close to the same anger at her father, but she is still ruled by it. The fact that Nucky had to personally burn down his childhood home (let alone restore it first) shows that he too is quite ruled by the influence of his father.

Maybe other people have seen different things but that's my read on it

me and rat agree on something, must be true

i liked this episode way more than you guys - no capone, van alden, or chalky, and that is good, because these characters are peripheral to the story as it's being told now. for how much i criticize the show, i've realized that it is too ambitious, and has too many characters that need to be served. it's like it saw what the wire did and said 'i want that', forgetting that the wire took 3 seasons to build up its world and characters sufficiently to go all out, and that the wire had a mediocre 5th season.

nucky and esther's meeting was real good. i liked harrow's plot, they found something for him to do. jimmy's mom was super creepy.

also no rothstein and gyp was a plus. rothstein's performance is excellent but up until this season he felt like another character on the periphery.
