Thats a good away of ignoring half of the argument.

Regarding what you just said: no.

Jimmy was basically the head of ac at that point. He had lots of people working for him and if he or his friend were recognized he would be risking the white vote for everyone involved with him... a lot of people.

The story had progressed too far by that point for it to make sense for them to do this themselves. If they were killing people outside of town it would make sense...manny... but no this made no sense.

Like i said minor nitpicking but its still there.

I think when Manny during S2 was a bigger player than he is now. He had his own operation in Philly, but he lost the money he gave to Jimmy and never got the booze, so he was in a tight fix. He's at the point where he's working for Mickey Doyle, not even for Nucky.

I kind of agree about Buscemi not quite being right for Nucky, although he's so good an actor that it hasn't bothered me too much.

FWIW the real-life Enoch Johnson was actually a large, intimidating man. That's a big reason I've fantasy-casted John Goodman in the role to see how it might play differently.

Gandolfini would have been perfect but you can see why they didn't use him.

What does Rossetti hope to accomplish with his gas station shenanigans?

I think hes just trying to put himself into a better position of power to negotiate. He now has something they want.

I think the positioning of the gas station makes it an absolute necessity to fill up there, but I also don't think they he is intending to completely lock Nucky down, just be enough of a nuisance that he gets what he wants.

they didn't have gas stations every mile back then, the kid talking to Rossetti says it's the last one until you get to NYC.

Terence Winter said that Gandolfini would have been perfect if they were trying to recreate the real Nucky since he was a big chubby bald guy. He wanted to fictionalize the story (hence Johnson--->Thompson) so that they could write whatever they wanted instead of slavishly following the life of the real guy. It would kill a lot of the tension knowing the real Enoch Johnson was never indicted until 1939 and died peacefully at 85.

I think it was a 1-time FU gesture because they can obviously just carry extra gasoline or bring more firepower in the future.

I think it's somewhere in between. It's a statement that says "give me what I want or I will find ways to make your life difficult"

I'm not sure we really know the answer to this yet but if he's sitting in a room with Rothstein, Luciano, Lansky, Capone, and Nucky then he's probably pretty damn connected.

I liked this episode, my favorite characters are the peripheral ones. Just needed some Harrow.

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

there have been 2 episodes.

and yeah nucky's new girl is incredible, dunno what about her does it for me.

this show alternates cool scenes with 'i don't care about this' scenes. i'm curious how this margaret storyline will play into the main storylines, but it seems obvious given the tenor of the show that whatever she does at the hospital will end up either being ineffective or backfiring. to a degree, this show is like Oz in its utter blackness - good deeds go punished, savagery is always rewarded, looking out for number one is the only one to look out for, etc. that becomes awfully one note after a while.

and jesus, why not just write it on the screen with eli's plane building. ugh. this show's despair rubs off on the way i feel about its writing, sometimes it's really good and other times it's almost amateurish.

I don't find her to be hot, but personality goes a long way.

I'm amazed at some of the comments in here. It's like some people just aren't really watching the show.....

Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Enjoyed the episode, but agree that it was one of the slower ones.

I have been wondering for awhile how Mickey is still alive as well, hearing Eli voice that question made me lol. It's very possible that this is actually a joke from the creators/ writers. I imagine one of the major reasons Mickey is still alive is that the actor is incredible.

His new girlfriend really does nothing for me.
