i would figure richard (or gillian if she's alive [edit: ok she's alive]) next factors into an eventual nucky/eli conflict? sitting in his car telling eli he wants nobody near him who they don't trust, nucky has to find out eventually that eli lied about the hit on nucky from s2, and richard/gillian are the last links left

Why would they have Eli and Nucky go at it again? They already set up Rothstein/Masseria as the main conflict for S4 with Capone likely siding with Nucky, but possibly also tension between them too.

Luciano may be the wild card. If I read it right, they didn't exactly stick to history with that whole situation.

This confused me more than anything , especially after they spelled out how many men Gyp would have even if Mazzy left. Werethe 2 of them going to just storm the castle?

Did heroin kill the jimmy look-alike or did it enable her to drown him ? Maybe she has been on the horse and has a tolerance ?

I think it is that he is no longer a politician and now a full-fledged gangster. "You can't be half a gangster." Now he embraces it - no more smiling and kissing the ass of the general public.

Final scene with AR/Lucky/Meyer/etc was a bit confusing, might have to rewatch that. Anyone able to clear that up?

nah he was definitely struggling a bit under the water... IRL she could have just stuck it in the back of his neck so he doesn't see her coming from the side, but I guess the final boss can' die that easy

Damn dinner got cold when I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen during the intro scene.

SOOOOO worth it. Just an outstanding episode from beginning to end.

Looks like seasons 4/5 stories are set.

Capone taking over Chicago and Luciano rising in NY. It looks like they are going to move up a certain war and change some of the players.

Mellon could provide some interesting plotlines.

He should be angry with Nucky for reneging on the distillery deal

I really liked the little moment between chalky and capone
"I'm glad I got that out of my system"
"you and me both"

As far as mellon goes, if nucky tells him that he's under seige and can't run the distillery, then it doesn't make money for him. So, he has to be complicit with nucky in calling in the feds on rothstein to get his distillery back.

Yeah this part really confused me, what was the specifics of the deal with the heroin to set Luciano up?

I get the sense that the whole Rothstein-Luciano thing was an elaborate 'I told you so' on Rothstein's end, but could be wrong.

I really liked this episode. Pretty much every scene was (for me) B to A+ except for the scene where Gyp was acting like a theater gay on the beach. Does anyone know wtf that was? I'm positive it had some importance relating to some other historical character.

There's no chance Capone stays out of Nucky's business? There was already tension concerning their agreement. That can't fall apart?

No, you're wrong about this. Chalky was pretty clear about wanting the exact opposite in episode 2. He may have developed more respect for his son-in-law's because of his willingness to stand by his principles as a doctor (to tend to the wounded regardless of circumstance), but at no point was he grooming him to be "gangster doctor". In fact, the son-in-law was still apprehensive about what he was going to be doing last episode.

Disagree. We got all the setup we needed last week. As for your second point:
