Boardwalk Empire: Season 3 Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Yes, Owen's death was foreshadowed. They developed the storyline in a way, that really the only way out (short of them really running away, which seems unlikely) was for Owen to get killed.
I still really liked the way they did it, it just would have had a little more impact (the moment the crate got opened) if I didn't had the specific thought 10 minutes into the episode, that Owen is going to die. Nucky mentioning that he had more people in mind for the NY job also foreshadowed that this job is going to fail.

Can anyone tell me what Gyp meant with the "because I respect you" and then going on to kill the guy?
Was the originally planned death a different, more slow, way of killing him (so that he showed "mercy" by changing it to a quick death)?
I am not too familiar with Mafia whacking techniques.

So Luciano warned Masseria with the exact plan to have him killed. Is it safe to say that Doyle is still informing them?

He was going to leave him there so the tide would come in and eventually he'd drown.

He instead gave him a quicker death.

I really enjoyed the opening to this episode.

Not sure how I feel about the guy committing suicide, the entire scene seemed a little forced, although the acting was incredible by both actors.

What a great show. Was up for 20 hours. Came home and still watched the show
I was def not a fan of the Gyp Rosettti character but he has def developed into something really good. He is such a hot head you never know what his next move will be.
I honestly didn't see Owen dying this soon

I was wondering about this as well. Might be how mickey finally gets killed. Finally.

Also makes sense why he was there for that meeting even though the conversation involving him and the conversation involving owen had nothing to do with each other.

My guess was Mickey too. From the meeting in Nucky's office, Sawicki informs them about Masseria's weekly spa appointment. In that meeting were Nucky, Eli, Mickey, Owen and Sawicki. From that lot, Mickey to me was the obvious culprit in "filling in" the other side with respect to the planned hit. I thought it was kinda reinforced during the last scene when Mickey calls Owen into Nucky's office and is looking a bit shifty towards Owen as he was leaving Margaret. But maybe I'm reading too much into it and could be wrong
The other possibilities are Eli - who perhaps still has beef with Nucky for making him do time, but to me it's quite a stretch - or Sawicki himself who was not in the box with Owen and could still be alive.

Great ep!

The National covering that 1920s song over the end of credits was amazing.

so when Lucky whispered in Masseria's ear, he told him about the bath house plan?

Luciano just told Masseria that Nucky was making a move. Therefore Masseria knew someone would be coming for him and increased his security.

Luciano told him that explicitly. So then what would he have left to tell that would necessitate him whispering in Masseria's ear?

Not to mention what idiot wouldn't have already known that Nucky would have o retaliate somehow?

then why have an otherwise unnecessary whisper? for dramatic effect? why couldn't Lansky hear that part? he had to give him the exact plan. either as someone said Mickey is snitching, or the Agent dude who looks exactly like a Delessio brother from season 1 walked Owen into a buzzsaw.

The whisper obv was giving up the bath house. Thought it was a bit of a heavy handed device myself considering how out of place it was for the show; could only mean one thing.

Aside from Doyle and Sawicki we don't know where the tip originated from so Luciano could have known straight from the source.

Richard not coming home that night will hopefully be the spark that ignites the Harrow-on-a-kill-crazy-rampage after Gillian goes off on him. He'll defend himself, she'll fire him and there it begins.

You are way over complicating things. After Rothstein refusing to back Nucky, it would be very difficult for anyone in NY to know about the baths plot.

I got the impression during the nucky crate scene that Nucky smirked a little bit when Margret ran up to the crate so maybe nucky gave him up after getting hints about their affair. Especially since they hinted that the servant understands more than he seems during a Marge Owen conversation.

i disagree, i think the whisper was a dead giveaway they had a mole/knew the exact plan, otherwise it was a really stupid addition

No.

But when Margret is crying over Owen Nucky got a look on his face that showed that he only realized at this moment, because of her grief, that they must have had an affair.
Well, I guess it's even score for them now, with both of their affairs dead due to Nucky's business.

He was obv telling him when and where but its far more likely it was the agent who gave him up.
It was obv Slater was going to die, and good chance Gyp is dead before the season is over too. The series is starting to follow the start treck red shirt formula "Who's going down to that hostile alien planet, Captain Kirk, Spock and Crew man #6" Who will die ...
Jimi, Gyp, Harrow are all total fictional characters and can die anyway at anytime. Since the show tries to be semi historical you can't just pop off Joe Masserea , Torreo , Capone etc etc being any kind of factually inaccurate with there deaths would basically tank the show . Though they are playing "loose" with some Characters and there time lines for sure.

REAL LIFE SPOILERS <IE nothing to officially do with the show>
Spoiler:
: None of these guys die until the late 20's early 30's. We are only in 1923...Massarea dies in '31, Rothstein in '28, and Remus doesn't get arrested until 25

Anyway to close to the spoiler line for me to keep going with that line of thought.

Harrow is going to go work for Nucky at some point IMO , even though hes one of my favorite characters it be nice to see him get a normal life back with that girl hes with. Though I think whats her name is going to rope him down into the whore house some how and expose him to her.

Lastly who ever suggested that Nucky gave up slater should probably stop posting theory around here, that ****s just dumb.
