i stopped watching 7 minutes ago and i still have a big smile on my face. excellent from top to bottom. even the Margaret stuff was tolerable (first scene with doctor at least)

Nucky is truly a bad guy now, this episode sealed it for me. knew it was coming, but that kid was great.

honest question - if you DVRd and fast forwarded Margaret's scenes every week, do you think you'd miss anything by season's end? it's like 2 different shows.

I honestly can't think of a primarily margaret scene that I find interesting/important.

That was great. Weird how quickly I'm TeamEli.

The kid was so good- the possibility they built up with him made the end hit that much harder even though I assumed Nucky was like 80% to kill him and the other 20 was Owen doing it.

For for first time in a long time I watched the previews for a show because I needed a hint of what was happening next. This show has me hooked in hard.

Once I saw it was a kid, I knew exactly what was going to happen with the kid due to the way they've been grooming Nucky's character since the last episode of s2. If you've seen
Spoiler:
Alpha Dog
it's pretty much the same premise of Stockholm Syndrome, quickly building up a relationship and then the captors ultimately deciding to do away with the hostage because they don't want to deal with whatever hassle may come of releasing him.

Just an outstanding episode. Very interested to see how the Owen/nucky conflict evolves

For anyone who watched the preview for next week, didn't have my glasses on and just wanted to confirm a couple things:

Spoiler:
gyp was selling booze to rothstein and the Feds were hunting van Alden, right?

Lil surprised nucky pulled the trigger. Thought for sure he'd give Owen the go-ahead at some unsuspecting point. This was much better though

Even from that little snip, it looks as if someone in the office was just busting VA's balls about the Fed's

Did anyone else think that Fed from last week that took VA's money was the cop from Rounders that caught Worm bottom dealing?

Regarding the previews:

Spoiler:
I don't usually watch them, but both the Van Alden and Rothstein scenes just screamed misinformation to me.

The scene with Lucky had me wanting to google to find out if that's how he died. I'm not sure if I want that knowledge about these guys, but then I think that the writers must assume a lot of people will know, and are writing with that in mind, so it probably will help understand the importance of some scenes.

The complaints you guys have about the Margaret stuff apply to Capone and Van Alden as well. The show isn't trying to tie everything together at this point. HBO/Winter just can't ignore the female audience, and I think those scenes have been well done and interesting.

im not sure theyre writing for the female audience , the time period was pivotal to the way womens rights /issues changed drastically . they cant just ignore it . i find it pretty fascinating but i can see how some people can be bored from it as well .

I actually like some of Margerat's stuff cuz of its historical backdrop like I think in S1 it was where a lady got fined for having to skimpy a bathing suit and the women's sufferage as well as some of the hospital stuff in this season just to let your know how ridiculous stuff was back then but when they give her to much air time its a huge problem.

Gotta say Im not missing Jimmy at all even tho I hated them killing him off, just so much awesomeness going on. I think now the only character I hate is Nucky, dude just leaves a bad taste in my mouth now. Just treats everyone like ****, makes for an interesting story tho. Dont really know who to root for or whatever but its a fun ride.

Im not sure where all the tension is coming from between Nucky and Owen. It seems forced. I cant remember Owen ever being anything buy loyal to Nucky.

Is he still pissed the Owen didnt clue him in that the old IRA guy was gonna get shot last season? I know Nuck is a harder man now and they are going out of their way to show it, but Im just not sure where his displeasure of Owen is coming from.

Beyond boning his girl? (I mean Nucky doesn't know about it, but not very loyal)

Owen was late to the meeting at Micky's because of blowjobs, and then at the meeting questioned Nucky (in front of others) and it was obvious the others at the warehouse were looking to Owen for guidance and not listening to Nucky.

Nucky imagines himself a lot more powerful than he really is, and he's getting upset when he's made aware that that's not the case. His beef with Owen is much more about his ego than anything specific Owen did.

Yeah obviously I didnt mean having sex with Margaret, thought last season I do remember them giving off the hint of suspicion.

You are right about the guys looking to Owen for guidance and Nucky taking that personally. I feel like they were building the tension between them before this past episode though. Maybe Im misremembering.

Why is Nucky in such a vicious mood all the time now. Is it:
  • Margaret screwing him on the land deal
  • Jimmy's murder weighing on his conscious
  • The Taber Heigghts problem
  • Something else entirely
  • or All of the above

The problem with the Margaret stuff has nothing to do with Margaret. It has everything to do with a hospital bureaucracy story-line being dull as **** compared to Capone breaking skulls or Harrow sniping fools or Micky laughing or Van Alden creeping or pretty much anything remotely gangster-related at all.

It especially pains me because Margaret is one of my favorite characters on the show. Hopefully they are taking this somewhere awesome but I can't fathom where yet.

Amazing episode though, maybe best yet? The show is just so well done.

Yeah, they're not writing the Margaret stuff for the female audience. I think both sexes agree it's boring.

the only thing that bothers me is that margaret becomes this hyper-religious dip**** for half a season and is now trying to undermine religious values?

seems legit
