The biggest issue I have with the show might just be that it's not Richard killing people all the time.

The Florist could be a good character if he manages to survive. He seems a little, I dunno, soft or something? At least compared to Al Capone. So he must be cagey as hell to be running the entire North Side. Reminds me a bit of Mickey Doyle in that way. The entire Chicago cast is awesome. Capone, Johnny Torrio (who I hope ultimately proves to be cagey as well; so far he's mostly been characterized by showing how Al is different than him), Dino O'Bannion, Remus, even the stocky guy sitting at the meeting in EP1 seems to have potential (he's probably been around before, I forget most of this show between seasons).

I really wish William Forsythe gets a Sopranos-like lead in something soon. He's one of my favorite actors ever and he deserves a long-running, starring role in something great.

very impressive first episode. ending of the last season was a mess and they are doing the best job possible it seems of trying to narrow down and focus the story line. i like!

Okay so. Does Nucky know Margaret signed away all of his land yet?

Yes, they have a fight about it at the end of the episode.

This one, after the party Nucky is mad at her for "telling the doctor how to run his hospital", and says that he already has to put up with this sh*t because she gave the land to them.

He's currently on the new show The Mob Doctor which started last night--and which I didn't see.

"You love to play the benefactor!"
"You MADE me play the benefactor when you gave away the land!"

side rant: Isn't it great how Catholic guilt works? Convincing you to not even enjoy the spoils of your crimes, but to give them away to the Catholic Church! Man, some racket they have going there.

Anyone else think "Richie Cunningham" the first time you saw O'Banion?

Kelly McDonald is just amazingly beautiful, and I can't understand how any of you lumps are complaining about seeing her. Love her.

Like the flapper chick Nucky has on the side, too.

I don't think the 'florist' was running the entire north side, he was just a lieutenant of the person who was. If he were the head honco I think he would have been constantly surrounded by muscle like torrio.

Loved the episode, I think ill watch it over and over again, as I can not wait till next one.

So many great scenes. Kinda hated the new gangster at the beginning for murdering nice old man , but how he talked about 3 in 1, offended every one in the kitchen and gave the dog to Margaret was very funny.

Loved as well everything about Van Alden -especially scene at the florist shop which was awesome and the awkward moment when he arrives home with flowers but never presents them to the Norwegian lady.
