Hate the polio storyline. Way too depressing to watch. I know, we're going for realism here but it's not why i'm watching this show. Rest of the episode was great.

I just love any scene with Chalky White in it now, he is such a boss.

Also I am rooting hard for Manny Horvitz to seek some revenge...

1920's assasins need improvement. they have blown fairly simple opportunities to kill nucky and now the butcher. john wilkes booth died too soon i guess

I wonder if Jimmy can convince Manny that Waxey/Nucky are responsible for the hit on him. Considering he owes Manny $5k and seems to have no intention of paying, I doubt it.

Zero chance I'd assume.

Butcher is going to kill someone from jimmy's outfit next. Not sure who though, really really hope it isn't richard.

i like how you say no chance but then counter with two ridiculous alternatives.

does manny seem like the type to kill a mans wife? nevermind that in that gangster culture that **** is basically forbidden anyways. what point would that serve? you tried to have me killed so im going to kill a moron you threw off a balcony a month ago?

manny knows jimmy hates doyle and manny sort of likes him anyway it seemed/

while i dont know if he gets offed or not, richard is without a doubt the likely candidate for a lot of reasons.

Consider that the guys working in the kitchen were making $15 per week and saying that the white guys were paid well and making 10 times that.

Yeah that's the sucky thing about a show where you know many of the likely targets are off limits. Not to say he doesn't try and fail. It just seems that they've invested too much time in Richard's character for him to go out like this. I would guess that either Richard or Jimmy would end up offing the other eventually at this point.

i say doyle because historical accuracy tends to show meyer, lucky and al as untouchable by now, and they seem to have not delved as deep into richard as they plan on doing, so that wouldn't make much sense, which leaves doyle as the only alternative, unless they wanna go with the commodore or one of the older guys in the group. i say jimmy's wife cuz

Spoiler:
in the preview for next week's episode iirc they showed someone try to suffocate a woman (either the prosecutor or jimmy's wife, couldn't tell) in her sleep

i think the polio storyline shows margarets guilt which can come in play in future episodes , i think she might confess to nucky about her relationship w sleater or turn nucky over to the feds as a way to come clean / repent for her sins . .

What's even more ridiculous is he has that kind of money to invest in the alcohol, yet doesn't give back the money he owes to the butcher.

He just made an enemy out of a beast, for being a bad businessman and a ****** and by trying to manipulate someone else into doing the hitting. which failed.

Told you jimmy was being a ******.

Cookie jar line was great. You just know Nucky is gonna find out about Owen soon. The lines with double meaning are all over the place. Suddenly I'm starting to like Owen though.

Man this show is crisp

Hope to god that Manny kills one of the guys that history has as living. Deviating from history and making nobody untouchable would be such a good thing for this show

No it really wouldn't imo. It'd be a good thing for this thread to put that history/spoiler crap to rest but that's about it.

That which makes it good for the thread is the same as that which makes it good for storytelling. There's a reason why the overwhelming majority of the best work does not allow history to constrain its storytelling

solid episode; liked the scene of nucky driving way in the car, and the shots being heard. would have been better, if not for the polio stuff.
