Spader plays this character so well. He's been killing it all season.

That scene with just him and the torn-up-leg-guy was probably the most "acting" he's done in this show. And he killed it.

Spader plays that fine line between camp and genuine emotion.

He also gotten so little opportunities to flex. But when he gets 'em, he own 'em.

Man that was some great tv. Agree on Liz not killing that dude or at least shooting him in the leg was a UGH moment.

Enjoyed the first few episodes of the show but it went downhill really fast. The latest episode was a big improvement.

The dialogue is so corny and soap-opera dramatic in so many scenarios it's cringe worthy. Spader is literally the only reason this show is watchable.

Hmmmm. That felt like a mostly filler episode, and its the damn mid-season finale. Pretty much the same stuff as before. The stuff in the beginning was good up to where Red was taken out, but the rest was kind of annoying.

Already renewed for season 2 it seems.

Anyone knows when they show the rest of season 1?

Also admitting I watch it because of Spader and I find the villains kinda interesting. Thought the girl was cute but I find her not very interesting so far. Maybe Parminder Nagra gets a more interesting part.

Spader and the villains have me hooked.

Though the show all season has had some of the worst elements of 24's "suspend your disbelief", the two-part fall finale had some of the better aspects of taking what was a silly small web and tying the season into something bigger. Like how those first six or eight silly hours of 24 were buildups to the protagonists gaining knowledge of a bigger plot of which the protagonists are still largely in the dark.

Again, it's a fun show. It'd be a better HBO show with 12-episode seasons though. This writing crew showed they need time to develop quality episodes. The middle fodder is gonna be this show's biggest downfall as it always amplifies the weaknesses of a series; these 20+ episode-seasons get killed with that mid-game stretching out like this. It happened in the fall and it'll repeat mid-spring.

New episodes start January 13, then break for the Olympics before picking up again at the end of February.

Episode was very entertaining. The only terrible part was Lizzy not killing that guy only to have him capture her later.
Yeah I wish the good guys would sometimes do what we'd do in reality... shoot that guy in the face. He's a bad dood. You don't just knock him out and run. You kill him, search his person, take his radio, weapons and ammo, and put on his vest.

Lizzy saying "if you make one quick move I'll kill you" and then killing that guy was great!

Level? Lithgow in Dexter was unreal! I can't help but think of Wesley Snipes in Murder at 1600 whenever I see Alan A.

Really glad The Blacklist is a winner. I enjoy it very much. I hope someone w/ more time than me makes a mashup of all of Reddingtons great lines.

You have to be joking. Alda has played some absolutely scary villains in the last 20 years. It was good casting, and would probably not bother anyone but you.

This show is legit entertaining, but I was really tilted in that one episode where Lizzy is barefoot, and passes up shoes at least 20 times. We get it, practically the whole episode was a Die Hard homage, but does anyone seriously think Bruce Willis wouldn't have picked up a dead guy's shoes if he had the opportunity?

That episode was pretty awesome in the Spader arena. Not bad in the Lizzy department either.

But Skinny Pete? Nooooooooo!!!!!!!

I don't have a clue.

I just couldn't get into the latest episode.

Gonna have to give it another try in the next day or two.

Essentially, Red is hunting down all people in the planning and money trail that led to the assault on him at the FBI site. Last week he took out the money men (including Skinny Pete), this week he hunted down the CIA mole.

I got all of that. It's the large number of seemingly random plot twists that are out of control. Do the producers have a plan or are they just winging it? A few of these things - not all, just a few - need to get resolved soon to advance the plot.

Is Tom legit or is he some sort of agent?
Who sent the "substitute teacher" to seduce him?
Who is Alan Alda and how does he fit in?
Who is the mole?
What is Meera's real mission?
What's up with Ressler's wife?

The one about Tom is the one that confuses me. Red periodically hints that he needs to be watched. Does that mean he's a bad guy, or that the fact that he is what he claims to be will derail her career and keep her from being all she could in the FBI?

Meera either is the mole or some strange double or triple agent.

Alda is clearly a political power broker. You have to have one of those in the show.

The 'substitute teacher" may be designed to bring Tom out for whatever deep cover he's in.

I don't know WTF is going on with Ressler.

I'll be really disappointed if Tom is what he claims to be and not some super-agent nemesis of Red's.

They said that Alan Alda is a Senator. Tom is definitely not what he says he is. Red is never wrong. You're not meant to understand everything. This is a twisty, shock-value, ignore reality, nothing needs to quite add up or make sense, 24 type of show. Meera's declaration of being the mole at the end of the episode seemed way too on the nose. Do they really feel they need to spell the scenes out that much?
