I feel like the writers may not know what they are going to do w/ the husband yet...

possible if not hopefully they pull it off.

With a weak fall I enjoy this show.

I'm sure they have it all planned out like Lost and Battlestar Galactica did...

Really? You aren't intrigued as to why he has a Jason Bourne go box under his floor? They want us to think he's a spy, and they've shown us someone bugging their home. This is part of the longer term storyline and I am excited to see where it leads.
I'm not convinced it is his box. Could be a plant. Why was he so easily taken prisoner?

I thought episodes 3 and 4 were much better and tighter than episodes 1 and 2. This is really good popcorn TV (just leave your head at the door), and we've got two good popcorn shows this season, this and Sleepy Hollow.

My new theory is that Lizzy is a twin (split up), that he is her father, and that he probably did have the husband marry her to keep tabs on her, but we'll see.

Bookending this increasingly bland procedural is an almost interesting beginning and an equally almost interesting end. The stuff in between is going to become grating very fast.

Im liking it. Decent popcorn stuff plus with an interesting mystery ticking along.

Took me till episode 5 to realise Skinny Pete is in it

I think it's getting better and better. Spader just kills it. The cliffhanger w/ the Jason Bourne box out in the open should be interesting. I think he's going to deny knowledge of it and she's gonna be all "really here's this photo of you leaving the scene w/o your glasses on cause you just smoked dat fool"

Or some **** like that.

Also in the most recent ep, Spader had some great lines/comebacks.

Agent: (something like) "every time you get involved things get messy"
Reddington: We've gotten off to a rough start.
Agent: YOU'VE KILLED TWO PEOPLE!
Reddington: I'm not perfect.

Yeah I was close to bailing on it but the last episode was a bit better.

Spader, "I'll make her talk."
Elizabeth, "How?"
Spader, "You don't want me to answer that."

FBI, "If you screw me on this."
Spader, "I'll consider it a bonus."

Fun show. The Spader one-liners will take a while to get old with me, tbh.

Needs more torture, though. Otherwise, it's all the predictable-bad of 24 while making failed attempts at Hannibal-Clarice depth.

What they have done well is creating interesting enough "Blacklisters". How sustainable that is can't bode well for more than one season.

The Av club does have this nailed though

The blacklisters and Spader are hugely implausible on their own terms. The world's best X (whatever X is) that keeps souvenirs isn't the world's best, it's a liability. Spader walks into a building in broad daylight, get the full on terrorist treatment and no knows he's flipped? He has to 'keep up appearances'?

I still find them interesting and gloss over the unrealistic parts in the same way cartoon super villains and super heros used to have odd quirks that I could overlook because they were interesting.

Well, you have to, but it's still a fun show.

Like the FBI guy decides to impersonate "The Courier" and meet the French girl. Of course they've already revealed that when "The Courier" gets double-crossed he always kills both parties to the transaction, so the only way he can successfully pull of the masquerade is to immediately kill the French girl, but that would defeat the purpose of the ruse. So it's doomed from the start. Plot hole that you could see coming a mile away.

Yet, for some strange reason, I keep watching (DVR of course - even bad MNF is better)

Box switch? Husband finds a box with her fake passports instead of his?

I'm no doubt down for the season, but if the above is true, I'd consider dropping it. That's just too much to try and do after what they initially set it up for. Adding BS just to add BS.

This show feels cartoon-like to me.

Car chases and fights seem computer animated.

that's what I thought was happening (box switch)

I also thought that's what they're setting up with the box. But, it actually would make zero sense for that to be the case, though it would make total sense in this show. I still want to know who's doing the surveillance.

And DC, this show is a Person of Interest clone, doing the exact same type of hybrid serialization, though the cases are much more dumbed down here. POI is one of my favorite shows, so I'd gladly take a popcorn show like this any day.

Exactly - I loved those scenes.

I think they were just taking a shot. After all they shut it down and went in hot the moment they were made. It's a TV show and like every other TV show in the history of TV shows, you have to let some things go.

I hope this doesn't become like '24' in the way that people rag on it but keep watching. Fyi the reason you keep watching is because you like it on some level. The interesting question to me, is how people have a such a hard time admitting that they enjoy something. It's ok to admit it.

Regardless, (not directed at anyone in particular) if you don't like the show, feel free to stop watching and stop posting. I'm going to consider each post an admission of enjoyment. I enjoy when people can have a discussion about a common interest w/o being trolled.

Well, that was the other angle to take on the mystery box. I'll take it. I know they're going to milk these two elements for as long as they possibly can. But it's NBC, and they gotta do what they gotta do.

Not nearly enough Spader in this one. And the lead actress is horribly bad which made the lack of Spader much worse.

I nearly gave up after the 2nd episode but glad I stuck with it. Enjoying it.

Also, I've missed you, Lisa P.

There should be a poll: Is the husband lying/a spy/not what he seems? I think it's like 80/20 "yes"

Another good ep. Another great line from Spader:

Agent: Are you threatening me Red?
Reddington: I am.

The delivery is just perfect. I took a clip and sent it to a friend. If I can figure out how to upload to YouTube easily from iPhone, I'll link itt.

lol, funny, I also took notice of that line. The cliche answer is "no, I'm merely...", so I liked the simple and honest answer here.

i know, a bit too nitty but why not use a some numbers that make sense

unless i missed something?
