I'm convinced that Reddington's bodyguard has an invisibility cloak, only way to explain how he can keep sneaking up on people and put a gun to the back of their head.

Or maybe I just read too many Encyclopedia Brown books when I younger.
I said the exact same thing and also read every EB book ever when I was a kid! Cheers.

I still enjoy this show but man...when people ask me what it's about I say "a badass character named Raymond Reddington and the most inept FBI agents ever.

Every time that now drug addicted agent is on screen it puts me on tilt. He's the worst.

The ep w Raymond's bodyguard's back story was great. The reveal w Tom was meh. The Tom stuff in general is meh. The Berlin daughter reveal was ok.

yeah. pretty cool. the shirt was lower too, lowest it's been. got a little jiggle up top and below.

terrible episode. took me three sittings to get through it. ending was decent.

series needs more spader again. only reason to watch is spader being spader. def want paul reubens' character back, too.

1. A ghost who didn't exist was John Reese. A+

2. Even though Ressler was under massive amounts of sedation, he somehow managed to drive them to where Collins was stashed. FBI? More like DUI.

also, keane is an orphan. no mom, dad was a low-level crook.

we're led to believe she has the clarice starling 'poor white trash' upbringing and she's a civil servant.

where the hell is this cash flow to live in a motel, store tom away, and hire black site staff?

i lol'd real hard that harold cooper was out in the field where his team had to kick a door in, despite his rank and still in need of a cane.

My favorite part is how much of a bad ass Liz is now. She basically became Robert De Niro from Cape Fear overnight.

GODDAMMIT!!

Turns out that was not in fact the fall finale. Makes the reveal easier to deal with and gives me slight hope that I won't be completely disappointed. Cause I was thinking the FF was last week.

Still so much spoiler in the commercial.

There were a few interesting questions asked in that fall finale, but not sure if I want to speculate on them...lol.

main one is:

Spoiler:
why did red hire tom then keep telling lizzie to not trust him all through s1? red's manipulative way to play white knight?

they do callback to the original question of why lizzie right now? i think the interest wore off on that but if they're going to make that interesting again, the foundation was laid well

my #1 criticism with the structure of the finale is

Spoiler:
that they really missed out on what could've been a fantastic spader-stormare scene with great conversation over the bottle instead of a dumb montage of basically just pouring drinks.

the show is still sooooo network programming-bad. and i have to blame nbc for this, too, because all of their shows look the same and it looks really bad. something about the fall finale just felt like a fun summer action flick and i'm cool with that because that's still waaay above and beyond the fake grain of cbs shows and soap opera looking garbage on abc.

and of course spader.

red's revenge missions are nice but they need more red and i felt curious about the show again because his revenge has teeth now after they basically watered down berlin's strength.

going back to the fun summer blockbuster point, i don't want to speculate either. i just want fast-paced points of this serial storyline. they didn't dwell too long on tactical events in this one (though i wish they had in the event listed in my above spoiler).

and of course needs more spader.

Speaking of Red's revenge missions, when the scene started where he spoke about the daughter of that creepy scarred up dude, I was REALLY hoping for him to tie every case they've done together with what he's been trying to do all this time as well. I sat up in my chair when it began, but they didn't go any further. That could've been fun. And it would've really hyped me up for future episodes thinking that they had a very structured plan all along. It was good for what it was though.

meh/ i didn't even want that scene to tie surface level events together.

could've just been a cool exchange on anything really. gimme a mutual shot, a second pour, a long red anecdote where berlin sips, followed by red shooting berlin as he tries to pour a third. or have a berlin anecdote during the second drink, a red anecdote during the third, and berlin getting killed while pouring the fourth. with the right glasses, this covers half the bottle (or somethig to get through half the bottle) and we're left with a "half-full" subliminal message before the ending scenes of ambiguity.

Yeah I thought the same thing that they may perhaps start to flash back and show us how some of the missions on the show have tied in to Red's agenda.

I also thought the scene w Berlin & vodka had potential for great dialogue but whatev. I knew that Berlin was going to die in that scene, I thought it was fairly obvious.

How long do we think Tom has worked for Red? Theories on why? Where to go from here?

And just to re-state, this FBI team has to be the most inept team of federal agents ever. I hate Lizzy and Mike. They are the worst.

Mike is really bad casting. If he's gonna be a dumb brute, at least cast an elite stage combat guy for fun ass-kicking scenes.

I'm sure the agreement between them was that once the last of the Vodka was gone that Berlin had to die. It was a show of "respect" by Red, to a guy who had systematically tried to destroy him. Dialog would have diminished that scene.

1) the black guy guarding tom on the boat is Meera's CI.
what does CI stand for?

2a) when did Red hire Tom?
Red and Tom were chatting like strangers at Keen's father's hospital.

b) so when keen shot tom, tom was already working for Red?
red knew keen wasn't going to kill tom? (ie: her shooting him in the stomach, then not finishing the job and lying to red)

3) Berlin didn't think it was a trap when his daughter agrees to meet with him?!

4a) why did Fitch set up Red as the person who killed Berlin's daughter?
b) why was the daughter set free after she was sent to the stewmaker? I'm assuming she escaped since the stewmaker kills people?!

1. CI-Confidential Informant

2. a) We don't know the answer to this, and likely never will unless Tom ignores Red's warning.

b) Probably, and yes, Red knew she wouldn't kill Tom.

3. He was driven by blind rage/revenge over the death of his daughter. He is blinded by shock/love about her wanting to meet him. He would never turn down that opportunity.

Several of those questions were answerable by either watching more closely or googling what CI means, the others aren't answerable at this time. Btw I think Berlin expected it was a trap and he would die, his life mission was over, he was prepared to now die.

I think Red knew she wouldn't have it in her to kill Tom, and think he used that knowledge as a long game strategy related to Berlin.

Finally picked this show up yesterday and I haven't slept much due to binge watching 20 of the 22 season 1 episodes. I plan on finishing the last 2 after the SOA finale tonight.

It's a good show, not great. I was hanging out with a friend who had it on when I came by yesterday so I watched 3 episodes in the middle. They all had me asking questions so I was instantly hooked and started at the beginning later that night. I'm sure I'm repeating here but Spader is great for this role. I love the way he avoids questions with some of the more random yet perceptive responses. Some of his answers to Liz's inquiries do get repetitive though as does some of the dialogue all around. Show seems to be pretty violent not afraid of blood either which I wasn't expecting at first. Dembe is elite, duh. Liz/Donald getting together seemed inevitable from day 1. Is it just me or is Donald always taking damage in scuffles on the regular? Anslo Garrick, Madison Pratt two episodes I recall off the top of my head that I really liked. It does seem like the show lost a little bit of steam for me late into the season but I think that's because the middle of season 1 was the show at its peak.

I'll definitely keep watching, hopefully season 1 goes out with a bang.

The mid-season finale of season 2 definitely goes out with a bang...lol. Season 2 has been good, but the show is actually taking itself seriously now. That's a bit of an issue, as the show is often so dark that it needs a lot of levity.
