Absolutely incredible season that seriously elevated the first with some amazingly intricate and patient storylines.

Finale was so great.

This black sails would have been in my top 20 last year but definitely wasn't in my top ten, which is how the top 20 was compiled. This season would for sure have been in my top 10 last year, probably about 6-8.

Yeah compare this episode with the big set piece from game of thrones last season, which I'm sure was much bigger budget. Black sails blew GoT out of the water, soooooo much better.

And I have to say the decision to have a sort of slow burn talk heavy season prior to blowing their budgetary wad was vindicated by this great episode. Although I would prefer they did a one episode denouement after the season climax, would have felt better from a pacing standpoint I think. Minor quibble though.

I voted for Black Sails season 1

. IMO though, the improvement between season 1 and season 2 is night and day. Right now it's easily at the top of my 2015 list, distantly followed by The Jinx at #2, and I'm having a hard time imagining anything else this year that could possibly come close, especially after that insane finale.

I think season 2 is fantastic and retroactively makes season 1 a lot better. Can tell this show was written with a coherent, well thought out story line from the outset. Really excited for the third season.

I just binged watched the first 2 seasons this week. Absolutely brilliant! Best TV series of 2015 for sure. Loved everything about it. I had no idea that was Anne Bonny. Can't wait for S3.

I'm such a cable fish. The only reason I am keeping cable now that the redzone channel is over is for this show, then only for baseball in the summer. I wish I could just buy the specific channels I wanted.

Nice opener, lot of action. Hopefully they have the budget to keep similar levels of action throughout the season, last season kind of dragged in the middle when it was all pirate politics all the time. I want to see dudes on ships yo!

Man I've watched this show from the beginning and don't remember Blackbeard appearing in the first season at all. Gonna have to go back and read the wiki episode recaps.

Count me among those who liked the first ep of the season. So glad this show is back.
