Yeah given how many people are confused I'm ready to say it's not our fault. His accent is different (and he's more growly as a pirate), his facial hair is different, and they don't say his name very much.
They definitely look different. For me flashback Flint looking similar to Bond villain in Die Another Day gave it away. On a related note it took me until ep 3 to realize that Mrs Barlow (Flint's female friend) is the aristocrat in flashbacks.
In general good start to the season (I think only GOT opening music gives me a better feeling than Black Sails theme), which makes me really happy as a sucker for everything pirate-related and having made the mistake to watch a couple of episodes of Crossbones (also about pirates + Malkovich seamed like slam dunk, but its horribad)
I just watched every episode and am enjoying this show so far, thanks for this thread OP and everyone who has posted or I would have never known this show existed! My only complaint would be now that I need to wait an entire week between episodes I'm not sure I will feel the story progresses quickly enough but I probably feel that way with every show that I enjoy and am forced to wait a week for. For example I don't really care when the next walking dead episode is on right now but will watch it when it airs, OTOH I can't wait for the next black sails episode, and am sure I will have trouble waiting another week for each additional episode.
One question I had on Billy.... Did Flint make him fall or did he fall on his own? Also, was he visible floating in the water holding onto the wooden boards that fell or were they just showing empty ocean there? I couldn't tell if they could actually see him or not before deciding they could not go back to look for him? It seems like they were trying to show something but after rewatching that scene a few times I just couldn't get a clear image.
It's been a year since I watched that episode so I can't help much on your specific questions, but I've been wondering if they will bring Billy back at some point. He plays a significant role in the beginning of Treasure Island, but not sure how closely the writers feel they need to follow that story.
I'm pretty sure that was Billy tied down on the beach being tortured.
Yeah I thought that was him as well, but then again it took me two ****ing weeks to realize that was Flint in a flashback. So I guess my opinion isn't the best here.lol
Maybe I was spoiled by watching everything back to back as tonight's episode seemed really slow. We went from Flint is going to attack the fort.... to Flint is going to attack the fort.
This show gives me shivers. Probably one of the best shows i'v seen in a while. Pretty obvious that this is better than what's right now on television. Captain Flint acts and i'm sure he will take the golden globe or an emmy . Also Eleanor Guthrie is a beast and she deserves an emmy.
Show is pretty good. Guthrie probs my favorite character. Still dont really understand dynamic between Flint and Best Friends Wife or how thats coming into play

Episode XII was the last episode and we see quite a bit of Billy, episode XI we see Billy on the beach(beginning of ep maybe?) getting water poured on his leather vest. These are the only 2 episodes I have seen with Billy this season.
Just smashed out a rewatch of Season 1 in light of recent developments. Got to say i enjoyed the whole thing about 2x as much second time round. So happy that this show seems to have big support from the channel and that season 3 is already locked in. Seems they have a clear direction of where they are going and have done since ep 1.
I enjoy the show but it has gotten a bit slow for me, mainly having to wait a week between episodes. I'd like to see a bit more piracy and a bit less politics. That being said, I have re-watched season 1 and the beginning of season 2 and those episodes had much more replay value than I would have guessed, so maybe this show is more masterfully written than I'm giving it credit for?
