Spoiler:

A real left turn would've been having the mom be really lonely a sexually frustrated, and then have her spying on her daughter having sex and getting off on it, or something.

As written, it was, like someone else mentioned, a PSA.

First really disappointing episode of the whole show for me.
Didn't like it much either.

You see who directed it?

Yep...she’s always been a tad... overly serious in her directing style

Love Cristin Miliotti, tho.
It was a lot like White Christmas. The part where Hamm's company made a copy of the woman and put her in the technology

Didn’t even know this was coming out and I’ve always felt like bm was hit or miss. I thought this was the best season and binged all of it. Everything was entirely predictable but maybe it’s meant to be, I literally told my gf early in ep 1 what was going to happen and it did. Don’t think that is a drawback though, completely enjoyable up to metalhead which sucked, totally worth skipping.

It felt like the director was trying too hard, if you’re gonna go b&w these days you better knock it out of the park. You could almost feel the director coaching half the scenes like the slow motion car off the 20ft cliff lol. The abrupt introduction of the characters made you feel nothing vested in them and yes half way I was rooting for the dog.

Been pretty disappointed in the season. For me, Black Mirror is always the same concept - take an existing piece of technology, extend it's capabilities, and show the potential impacts. From this season:

USS Callister -
Spoiler:
fun and entertaining, not that sure it showed much in the way of worldwide impact. The impact was solely on the scanned in characters, who in reality weren't real people. That the bad guy suddenly gets trapped in the game is kind of deux ex machina, because as others have said ITT, he could easily have just re-harvested DNA and started again. It did have a lot of feeling of Lt Barclay on the holodeck in it.

Arkangel -
Spoiler:
To me, might be the most true Black Mirror-y episode of the year. Tracking technology for kids isn't that big a stretch to believe and I thought it was a very accurate portrayal of what the downsides would be.

Crocodile -
Spoiler:
This wasn't a good Black Mirror story. There wasn't any real technological issue here - just the memory recaller which could just as well have been any kind of standard investigative work that led to her having to try to clean her tracks

Hang the DJ -
Spoiler:
Mixed feelings on this one; the story itself was decent and interesting to think about a computer essentially simulating a person's dating life - short flings, long term relationships that you can't wait to be over, etc. I actually did not like the ending at all - either the story should have shown that they were in real life having relationships manipulated by the system, or given some idea of what happens after it turned out there were in the simulation beyond just the 99.8% match.

Metalhead -
Spoiler:
Terrible. I don't understand what is trying to be said or shown here, and the big shock ending of what they were out looking for makes it even more stupid. Worst episode of the series for me.

Have yet to watch the finale. For me so far:

Arkangel > Callister > DJ >> Crocodile >>> Metalhead

one other thing that slightly bothers me about 4.1

Spoiler:
How did the sim characters know that he kept the DNA-containing material in a fridge beside his computer?

Great stuff as always. I also thought of Karl Pilkington during that story in Black Museum. For me it's
Hang the DJ > Black Museum > Callister > Arkangel > Crocodile >>>>>> Metalheads

Not nearly as good, though.

yeah. white christmas was fantastic, would have been good value to see as a movie

they may just be running out of ideas. either reusing stuff or eps like metalhead that had no point

Just watched episode S04E01 so far. What a treat. This is beautiful TV. I wanna treat myself with one episode a week just like a fine wine.

Punker:

Regarding S04E01:

Cmon man, let it go and enjoy the show. Of course he could have just started over but this is TV made so that you take a step back and think of things. For exemple: is it that bad for Doley to do ****ty things in the game if it stops him to be an ******* IRL (he looks fairly straight up IRL)? What if we allowed our sick minds to do that (pedos and serial killers)? It also made me wonder about how people live through dictatorship when they see no way out with the breathing thing which I found to be very troubling.

An episode that focused on using that technology to treat serial killers and pedos would have been amazing.

Crocodile - first episode I've watched of the fourth season and the worst episode I've seen of the series. It was slow, quite predictable & the actual "technology" aspect was superfluous. Guy kills everyone who witnessed his crime. But the way they witnessed his crimes is very slightly different. And he is a she. Zzz.

Finished the season. Pretty good over all.

Tier 1-
episode 6- Really liked it plus it freaked my GF out a bit. Shes a wimp.
episode 4-good but i enjoyed episode 6 more but i get why alot would say this is
their fav
Tier 2-
episode 1-Almost tier one for me.

Tier 3-
Episode 2
episode 3 These two were about even for me both solid.

Thought the black n white one was terrible. Not sure the point of adding it. It was
as if they needed something and threw it in last minute or something.

Episode six I was not liking halfway thru but by the end it's a top five episode for me.

Episode S04E01 was awesome. It was just good.

I thought episodes 2, 4 and 6 were good.

I turned episode 3(crocodile) off less than half way through and I haven't watched episode 5 (metalhead) yet.

1. Uss callister
2. Black museum
3. Hang the dj
4. Arkangel
5. Metalhead
6. Crocodile

Is how id rank them. The bottom 3 were all horrible.

Metalhead would have been slightly better if it wouldn't have been Black & White, who the hell even enjoys that?

it also could have used some sort of point

legit shocked people like Black Museum

it's definitely in the bottom three episodes of the series

Crocodile is borderline there too

Surprised how many have episode 4 as their consensus #1; it was good but nothing this season really blew me away though my personal favorite is episode 1.
