I guess it shows mow detached I am from this show when the Sacker defection didn't even faze me, when clearly it was supposed to be a big deal. And the whole Chuck gotcha court moment was easy to see from a mile away. It's sad when the highlight of the past two weeks for me might have been seeing Spyros.

Kind of didn't understand the end of the ep, but I'm assuming that Chuck is using that guy instead of his Dad as a plant for the inside of the firm?

this reddit post is probably better than anything on the show this season:

Bonnie’s exit was ****ing laughable. Was that supposed to be dramatic? I expected Prince to just shake his head and say “like Jordan made his exit, she’ll be back, hopefully without a 45. Anyway, here’s some sneakers I’ll teach you to wear!
episode 5 was genuinely horrible, worst ep of the entire run without question. last week was a bit better, chuck and his dad are still good for some laughs, and generally i quite like prince and taylor. wags being sidelined like this is wtf, he has like 2 lines in recent eps??? haven't watched this week yet.

Okay, so that episode was actually decent, especially because it set up that Prince is going to take the gloves off finally and stop being such a nice guy.

But the whole Taylor arc made no sense - no way they would be so rigid and calculating for three seasons and then gamble on a situation just because of an emotion like jealousy.

Marathon’ing the first 8 eps made it a lot
easier to swallow but this might be the most Showtime that Showtime has ever Showtime’d.

An entire season to end up where they should’ve started it. I like the idea of a worthy foe so hopefully Prince can finally fight back.

What annoys me the most about the show is that they have no faith in the audience to let the references and whatnot be unexplained when most of them don’t need to be.

This is going to come off harsher than intended, but...have you worked in an office before? Feel like these sorts of music + sports conversations are pretty typical. “Every genre” is a bit of an exaggeration of course.

That Ben Kim’s sidekick (pudgy Indian guy, I forget his name) doesn’t get every reference is actually less believable/realistic, IMO.

i am not talking about usual office convo - i.e did u see the match on the weekend...

Im talking about "this is like frazier ali when frazier hit ali with a left hook in the 8th" and taylor says "yeah but the 9th was when ali made a comeback"

as if they rememever every single round of every fight, or sports match, the above is a made up example ofc but these type of references are used in most episodes.

the references are not realistic for everyone in th conversation to know is what im saying

That one is an example that isn’t so bad because of the response. The ones that get me are the (using your same example) “This is like the 8th round of Frazier v Ali.” and the response “we’re about to take a left hook to the chin?” “Exactly”

Ugh...... lol

yes exactly

examples
prince/axe = This is like springsteins last song in michigan in 88..............taylor = yeah but if u rememeber he made a medley of it...

same episode
prince = this is like 50 cents first album..........Taylor = yeah but it was nothin compared to wu tang clans first

Like theyre basically experts on every genre of music as well, i just find it tilting

in general the show is watchable but it definitely isnt anywhere near top tier TV - first series maybe was as it had potential but i think it turned in a advertising show (apple/coke etc) and then the writing just got silly.

The advertising on the show reminds me of waynes world 2 when they are doing the TV show and he shows the soles of shoes(reebok i think) then coca cola etc lol and that was done as comedy, billions does it as serious tv.

So much in that episode that was totally lame. Chuck dressing down the arrogant guy was as predictable as hell. And his Dad claiming that the women weren't hookers was laughable - as if any woman in her 40's would have a one night stand with an ancient old man or another one go with Lewis from Suits without being paid.

And Prince sleeping with his employee out of the blue literally makes ZERO sense when he's a guy who could afford to have any smoking hot woman naked at his door if he wanted to get laid. Especially that one. And more evidence that Taylor is being given emotion suddenly for no reason at all.

I actually thought it was the finale and would’ve dropped the show immediately if so. Lol

Doc asking if anyone needed a penicillin shot was kind of a giveaway.

Drugs were involved with Prince and the girl. He probably went back for more.

I was hoping Mafee’s response to Taylor’s q “what happened to your million in crypto from Axe” was going to be:

“I lost it. It’s probably in a Staten Island dump somewhere.”

Okay, not that anyone is still watching this show but...

The ending of that episode and seeing what arc they are pursuing simply made me throw my hands up and go WTF are the writers thinking? It's like watching House of Cards going into the final season and knowing how much of a train wreck it's going to be.

Yeah, I'm having trouble thinking of reasons why rational-minded people wouldn't bail after what happened and what likely lies ahead. At least by watching this season I realized how much of a treat it was back in the day. I'll choose to remember those days, not this mess.

none of that episode made sense. like, why would Chuck go to jail if the drives lock or dont have crypto?

and I guess the reason she didnt want to sign off on the warrant was bc she needed to catch him lying? so instead her and Chuck just break a ton of laws.

The gaping plot hole is that crypto profits, like those of most if not all assets, are not taxed until it is sold.

This show hasn't made sense all season so that's not unusual.

And they just tried to basically rewrite a season with one episode sending it into an arc that they should have started at about episode 3 instead of the stupid Olympics garbage.

Showtime shows with A+ amazing 1st-2nd seasons & “wtf happened?” late seasons:

Dexter
Homeland

What else?

What is it specifically about Showtime?
Billions Quote

I dont think its specific to showtime (or maybe slightly)

but i think its just about milking things (money) the same with movie franchises like fast and furious etc

Most really great series end after 4 or 5 or top whack 6 series (sopranos for example best ever imo) , once its goes to 6/7/8 territory its treading on ruining the whole thing as its just hard to think of new ideas/plot lines that are intersting.

I would go as far as to say i bet if you went back in time to when soap operas started the first couple years the shows we probably great, and then once they go on and on for yrs there just isnt enough new ideas to keep people interested. some people don't mind that kinda drivel they will watch a soap opera for decades and not once question the story lines or plots etc.

I’d be more curious as to how many people who start the shows stay on in an important role, not including actors, after those first few years.
