Marathoned season 2 over the past few days. This show is ridiculous but I like it and am entertained. There is no "good guy" as the main proponents both break/bend the rules.
I do think Wendys short will have some implications and I expect that Mary Louise Parker will be bought or compromised into helping team Axe.
You have to suspend belief with this show but I find it a fun ride.
I recently binged both seasons. Overall, I like the show. Some thoughts:
It overdoes reactions to things. In S1, there's a big deal made when Axe buys the beach house for 63M. In reality, nobody would care. Later that season, he has the conversation with the Metallica opening band singer and that seems to spur him into something of a midlife crisis. That seemed overdone. And the firemen's reaction to him trading on 9/11 also seemed over-the-top. It's not as though he hurt or killed any firemen; in reality, he made a ton of money on the trades and gave a pretty large chunk of it back to the FD.
Giamatti and Lewis are perfect for their roles. So is Wags.
Palming a Knight is a complete joke in that spot. C'mon man
Yes, especially since that knight was the last piece he moved, and it was part of his decisive attack.

And when I read this, I thought, why didn't Maurice show them how actual cheating in chess is done, in ways that is much more likely to work. (deliberate illegal moves, putting pieces on the border of two squares, etc. in the confusion of a time scramble). But then I found this video, which I've seen before, but forgot about. Cheating is at 2:20, the opponent tries to take both black knights, which are on adjacent squares.
Billions scene:
An example of probably inadvertent cheating from a real game between two grandmasters. Black moves a rook to h6 and removes the rook on h7. (at 0:12, slow motion around 2:30 also)

Wasn't the midlife crisis more spurned by the interest that was shown to him from the young woman at the concert who he had a lot in common with? I get that they centered it around the talk with Hetfield, but it really seemed like his interaction with the woman prior to that was the true catalyst of him acting the way he did for the next little while.
Slow season opener, last season was slow to start as well so i have faith it will get better as it goes on. Was rather uncomfortable during the scene with Wendy "punishing" Rhodes with the infidelity stories. Not too fond of the Taylor character but from the preview of the rest of the season it seems they may make her/him angle abit more interesting.

That scene made you more uncomforatable than in the sauna with Her/Him?
lol they were both fine but a bit weird.

I didn't mind that scene, nothing too out of the ordinary happened but the dominatrix scene was kinda cringe & just creepy. Not too fond of how prideful, intelligent & powerful Rhodes is & then they go ahead & emasculate his character in that manner & then left the scene as if he was okay with it & dare i say enjoyed it, ughh. Maybe it's because i'm leaning more towards a MGTOW lifestyle while i hated the scene or maybe others felt the same, who knows.
is this your first time watching the show? that is a distinct part of rhodes being.
I've watched all the seasons, he always love being dominated but his character isn't one to get off on finding out his wife cheated & being a cuck, he was never a cuck & that's what annoys me.
the dialogue in this show is like the worst of aaron sorkin combined with the worst of bill simmons. it's incredibly distracting and completely ****ing stupid.
and yet somehow even on a pretty average episode i have the biggest **** eating grin on my face throughout the entire hour. it's fantastic.
