It honestly looks like he's leaning that way, but he's scared and keeps flipflopping. He even took out m&ms to help him run through scenarios. Right before all this happened, john suggested making a final 4 with james and Meg, and steve kept saying "I don't know" so john asked if he needs to think about this more and steve said yes. So it's all very up in the air

I think he's mostly conflicted because he has to give different answers to different people. Even if he was fully intending on falling on his sword for Liz and would never go against Julia, he'd still have to pretend to be ok with it. It's already working on Vanessa which was a big factor in Vanessa trying to talk steve/john out of this.

Add on that he probably is legitimately conflicted over what he'd do in f3/f4 scenarios with the twins, + having to give different answers to different people, and it's kind of a weird spot for him. Earlier I think he caught himself because he was telling Vanessa/Steve about his convo with Meg and how he said he basically couldn't go against Julia and look like an *******, but then he realized he needs v/s to still believe he'll do it later, so he kinda stopped that train of thought or added a "not the right time" or something.

What's funny is that despite how horribly james and Meg have played this, and despite the fact that they virtually gave up rather than giving steve a serious campaign, they would actually be in a great spot if Steve flips this. Austin and Liz would definitely be targeting Steve/john before them, and likely vice versa. So Vanessa would be all they have to worry about, and she can't be HOH. So they'd be extremely likely to both survive the DE tomorrow if Steve flips the vote.

And if they won + took Vanessa out, it'd be an ideal final 6 for them with Austin/Liz pissed at Steve/John.

If Steve/John won and took out Austin/Liz, it's still pretty good for them because they still only have to worry about Vanessa.

If Austin/Liz win, then john goes home and it's not quite as good. But they'd still both be in the house, and working with Austin would be more feasible. Actually now that I think about it, Steve could go home in that scenario since Austin/Liz will be pissed at him and its what james and Meg would prefer.

It remains super stupid that Vanessa put up Julia instead of Liz. the difference between Julia going home and Liz going home for her game is so huge that it was dumb to risk the wrong twin.

The jist of Steve's reasoning is that he needs John in this game, and that all 3 Austwins want him out. And have a 50% chance of winning tomorrow if Meg gets evicted.

The cluster **** that the last 3 weeks have been for anyone outside of Austwins and Vanessa can all be fixed in the next 24 hours.

Step 1. Steve/Jmac come to their senses and evict Julia.

Step 2 James luckboxes DE HoH and gets Vanessa out.

The house then consists of 3 groups of 2 people each with Jmac and Steve probably the most well rounded duo with Jmac having a decent shot in physical comps and Steve being an overwhelming favorite in mental ones.

right, this is why I was so surprised Vanessa was willing to put up Julia. She was so worried about how the twins would vote that she ignored how steve would vote. of course, she probably sees Julia as expendable...but that's still one of her best f2 options that would be walking out that door. And then she'd know for certain Austin/Liz will always take each other over her - something that wouldn't be so certain if Julia was in instead of liz

Which means Vanessa needs john and steve, but she would now need them more than they need her, and they'd be in good favor with James and Meg. The fact is that if Steve does this, we are very likely to see 2/3 of Austwins go home tomorrow if not Vanessa herself. And then a lot of her power would be reduced

Steve also mentioned the exterminators when he was talking to himself, and how this was the time in the game where Andy turned on Amanda/McCrae

Don't the HG's usually know it's a DE night a few hours b4 b/c the producers tell everyone to pack? If so I wonder how that would affect Steve/Jmac's thinking? KNOWING it's a mental comp coming might make them more will to take risks since they would think they are the favorites in any mental comp w/ Vanessa sitting out
