Why did Austin and Steve decide to tell Johnny Mac about Freaks and Geeks and to tell Meg and James later? I think they are pretty much helping Vanessa if they do this.

They seem super concerned about who's coming back from jury which is stupid. No one would work with Vanessa if she came back and she'd go right back out the door. If they're really worried about someone coming back then James is the only other logical other target. Austin is an idiot and thinks he can be aligned with everyone though.
