I defy anyone to find a sexier TV character than Kim Wexler. The voice, the look, the ponytail... she's like the definition of hotness to me. Looking better than ever this season, I guess breaking bad agrees with her.

Back to the story though... am I the only one who feels bad for Howard? He's kind of a jerk sure, but doesn't seem like a bad guy. What is the motivation for Jimmy and Kim to want to destroy him so badly? It can't all be just about Sandpiper. Is it just what he represents (privilege and connections and wealth), since Jimmy and Kim had to fight so much harder to succeed?

Agree on both. Kim is really smart in addition to being attractive. As Saul himself said in a little different context, "Only the best...with the right amount of dirty."

Don't get Kim's apparent hatred of Howard either. I get that Jimmy blames him (right or wrong) for Chuck's problems, but Howard's never been anything but decent to her.

Put her in the basement doing doc review and continued to treat her like **** even after she landed a big client for him.

Howard's only nice to people of his social status. He's fake nice to people he thinks are beneath him.

If you want evidence, see how he continues to not gaf about what the Sandpiper plaintiffs want.

Hm. I thought I remembered her taking on the doc review stuff, no it being put on her. I'm likely misremembering. He did offer to waive the money owed for her law school tuition when she left HHM though.

Good point Kurn, he is a snobbish, status-concerned character.

Yeah he treated her lousy definitely in the early seasons, and Jimmy also... but he seemed to want to make amends and even tried to hire Jimmy for his firm. He's a bit condescending and kind of smarmy and fake, but nothing worthy of the level of vengeance Kim wants to exact on him.

I sense her desire to destroy him runs deeper than anything he did to her specifically. He represents the haves. Kim and Jimmy had to scramble for everything, while Howard was born into wealth and had an easy ascent thanks to nepotism.

I also think Kim and Jimmy both feel like they are on the side of the underdogs, while Jimmy represents the rich and powerful. This allows them to think their revenge plan is morally just.

I don't think anyone would say what they're doing to him is justified; it's obviously over the top, but Howard did do plenty of shitty things to both of them over the years and they view his later olive branches as mostly self-serving or too little too late.

I think this scene really gets to the heart of Kim's issues with him:

that's like every big lawyer everywhere. But they aren't trying to destroy nursing home defender guy or Jimmy's former boss guy.

Re: Howard hate

Everything others said + there’s a piece of their relationship that is based on the thrill of pulling these scams. They justify it to themselves as helping the little guy and taking down the rich snobs but they also get off on it.

That’s been a part of Jimmy’s character from the beginning, Kim gets more and more into over time, and they egg each other on.

I see it as kinda like BB - there’s a point where Walt doesn’t need the money anymore, he just does it cause it makes him feel superior and badass after a lifetime of being stepped on. Same thing with Jimmy and Kim here.

Up to this point the legal stuff/ cartel stuff has stayed pretty separate, but I think the end is going to be something like the Howard scheme runs into the Lalo storyline and blows it up. Like they’d have a way out of the cartel mess except somehow the take down Howard plan makes it a lot worse.

I don't see well in dark situations.

When Lalo was walking through the barn, at one point there was a shot with a bunch of stuff in the foreground. It seemed like one of them looked like the crown of a bottle of Zafiro to me.

Did I imagine that?

This show is so damn good.

Being forced to wait a week for the next episode feels like a relic from the past in the streaming era. I love it even while I am tortured by it.

I continue have little to no idea what is going to happen next. It’s exhilarating!

I thought it was odd that Lalo identified himself to the German. I guess that guy is dead once Lalo gets the information he wants.

So they’re trying to trick Howard into thinking that Jimmy is paying off the handlebar mustache guy?

What was the thing with the vet?

No clue. I thought someone mentioned that Jimmy’s pupils were super dilated, but I don’t know what they are up to.

the German & Lalo had seen each other before when Lalo got the fake tour of the meth lab construction project. no idea why the German didn't finish off Lalo when he had the upper hand that scene was kinda bad.

Yea, you live in some remote area and some shady guy shows up on your property, he pulls a gun and you run and hide, you get a surprise strike on him and should absolutely finish him off, no questions needed.

This is my guess, but no idea how it gets slipped to him. Presumably it'll be like Chuck Chicanery 2.0 and Howard goes on a seemingly bizarre rant of bribes, bowling balls and baby powder in his locker while looking high as a kite

except he wasn't "some shady guy". the German recognized Lalo and knew he was associated with Gus Fring and would think he was most likely there to kill him (which I am going to guess that Lalo eventually did).

I don't think he recognized him. He kept asking who he was. After he mentioned Fring, it's possible he might have remembered, but it's not clear that he did. After all it was a pretty high stress situation in which he would have been required to connect the dots.

Vet guy showed Saul how to position the syringe under his arm to poke Howard.

part of the problem with these shows that have like 3 years between episodes is I forget tons of stuff.
