Better Call Saul (season 6): The Final Season Better Call Saul (season 6): The Final Season

kim & jimmy breaking up happened sooner than I was expecting. if they don't show what kim went on to do I will be pissed. I read an interview with rhea seehorn earlier today and she wouldn't confirm or deny if she appears again after this ep. my guess is she only shows up in the Gene timelime again. maybe she is working as a Macy's clerk at the mall where Cinnabon is, idk. that would explain why saul wound up there specifically.

hector looking like a crazy buffoon at the meeting he requested was fantastic to watch. I legit lol'd when he was being carried off while still banging on his bell.

I too am puzzled at the purpose of the gus wine scene. although it was a change seeing him simply relaxing and enjoying life one time.

There's no way Kim doesn't show up again. I think her 'exit' wasn't done too well, happened way too fast. And agreed with a lot of wasted time in this ep, though I still enjoyed it. Except for the Gus wine convo. The less of Gus/Mike/cartel in the remaining eps, the better.

When Saul mentioned there was a new public masturbater I thought the episode was going to end with Badger stepping into his office but just remembered they met at jail

Just realised there'll probably be quite a bit of Saul connecting Walter to Mike/Gus and everything that involves. Do not want tbh

This interaction is what I’m hoping for at some point:

I’m not sure what the hell was going on there either. It felt like Gus was about to take the sommelier home with him. Now I can’t even remember if they showed why he pretended he got called away, unless he suddenly decided he didn’t want to sleep with the waiter.

Note: I have never used “sommelier” in a sentence, but I’m just going to let it ride without confirming the spelling or definition.

Agreed. That was quite a sudden exit by Kim. I could have used a little more from that scene. It was good, but at the end it felt like Jimmy just gave up.

I’m curious how much time has passed between Kim’s departure and the stuff going on at the end of the episode.

I don’t know if there is any room for it now, but I could use another scene with suspicious Cliff Main; something like this, perhaps:

“Hey Kim, remember that day I got you a seat at the table for the most important lunch of your career, and you didn’t show up? Meanwhile, Howard lost his mind and was never seen again?”

I also would have enjoyed a quick wrap-up of the Sandpiper case and Jimmy getting his money. Obviously he has it, because he lives in a mansion now. The case and impending settlement were such a big part of the series. It just would have been nice to actually see the resolution.

It makes total sense. It just felt abrupt, like this character we have cared about for six seasons is suddenly gone forever.

I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.

This seems to be a theme of S6; characters checking out earlier than I expected (Nacho, Lalo, and now Kim).

There’s nothing wrong with it; just an observation.

Yeah I absolutely expected her to leave, just thought it would be a bit further drawn out rather than abrupt. Even just throwing out the wine scene and focusing on her a bit more.

By the way her making up the story of Howard snorting something 'about a year ago' to his wife, whom he revealed to Kim he'd been having trouble with for about a year...oof

Surprised at all the negative comments here, I thought it was a great episode. The opening montage was awesome. Scene at Howard's memorial service was so uncomfortable and felt like Jimmy and Kim running their last con, only this time with no joy or fun to it. And the breakup scene was some amazing acting and the unexpected jump forward to Saul in bed with a hooker was so good.

I even liked the Gus wine scene, it was cool to see him trying to celebrate in his reserved way, but then realizing his job of revenge wasn't done and regaining his discipline.

The Mike/Nacho's dad scene was the one that felt out of place to me. Why would a careful Mike go visit the dad of the man he had a part in killing, and even admit that fact to the father. What if he calls the police?

Great episode overall though. I think we see Kim again, the writers know that one of the biggest questions viewers have, is what eventually happens to her. Don't think they will leave that unanswered. This feels like a purposely done fake-out by the writers that her story line is done.

Re: the scene where Saul's getting up for work. That's the lead-in to Breaking Bad. He's on the phone in the closet, and expresses surprise at a new public masturbator.

That's what he originally thought Badger was being charged with, remember? "A minor transpositional error. Nothing a little wite-out won't fix."

Put in the DVD of the "Better Call Saul" episode from Breaking Bad afterward. Sure enough, he's wearing the same outfit in the office that he later meets Badger with.

Not sure how they're going to fill four episodes with stuff we haven't seen in Breaking Bad. Got to be more detail on Kim?

P.S. Am I recalling correctly? Seems like in the opening, they panned past a Piggly Wiggly. I want to say early in the series, Kim talked about growing up in this small town where her future was likely to be getting married and working at the Piggly Wiggly, but she got out to UNM (?)

And once again, a 2+2 TV thread of a great show devolves into stupidity.

Agreed. I think it is a useful scene to help illustrate the weight that Mike carries as a result of choosing this life, but it does seem an unnecessary risk, especially face to face. When the phone rang in the shop, I thought that would be the extent of the interaction, which would have made more sense.

I thought that she was at the lunch when Saul drives dressed as Howard.

Seems odd that Saul would have that office with 7 digits in the bank. Maybe a suspicious Clifton Main and or Cheryl Hamlin screws him out of it.

Not the lunch with Cliff. The meeting in Santa Fe that she is driving to when she hears about the mediator’s broken arm and does a U-turn. It has something to do with her getting funding to help represent clients who can’t afford it. Cliff set it up for her.

Over/Under on whether we find out what happened to Huell?

I think the actor lost a ton of weight, so that could play into it lol

Totally fine with all the things a lot of people are pouring hate on. Mike sees dad because he feels nagging guilt about how nacho was treated, nacho being someone he always stood up for with fring etc, the wine scene felt a bit forced but it was just here this is how fring relaxes when he can be just chill in public for the first time in ages, and bookended that chapter for fring as did the meet in Mexico. Made fring a bit more rounded as a charachter etc.

The only thing that felt off to me was the cut to in bed with hooker, I wanted to see Jimmie descent post Kim leaving, that is meant to be the pay off of this show.

Im not sure if they will show more of this in last few episodes but if its just been cut to hookered out I will be disappointed.

Im not convinced we're in the Breaking Bad timeline just yet (though I was expecting "Mr. Mayhew" to come through the door at the very end). The last scene at the end shows Saul's car with a license plate with a 2005 expiration date. That means its still a few years before the Breaking Bad timeline. Is it possible Saul drives his car with expired tags? (maybe he has 2005 tags in Breaking Bad?)

We’re in season 4 and obviously she loves it. But aside from the sympathy for Walt’s diagnosis, she’s was barely on his side from the beginning. And not at all mid-season 2.

Which made me think…. When was I off team Walt? I don’t think it was until the final season…. Even the end of season 4, I was still mostly rooting for him…
just realized that maybe the reason i liked this end of slippin' jimkim, end of jimmy mcgill, etc ep less than most is that i've been out on jimmy & kimmy since last season at least probably. like walt at the end of bb, they're shitty people, long hair don't care about their tears now or whatever

and chuck called all this btw ^. jimmy does dumb bullshit, then crocodile tears about it later, foh
#teamchuck

bb spoilers:

Spoiler:
and yeah i think i was kinda out on walt after he let jane die, bounced back when he stepped for jesse in s3, he was a dick in s4, then prob out again for good after mike

The descent has been happening gradually for a while, followed by the plummet when they caused Howard’s death.

I totally agree with you though. I’d like to see some of what happened between Kim’s departure and full blown Saul.
