Basically I'm asking did all other shows decline in viewership in the years BCS went from season 1 to season 5, and did other shows similarly go up in viewership at the same time Breaking Bads numbers went up
BB was an outlier. Numbers started very low and increased slightly over the first 3 seasons. In the past when people had to buy/rent DVDs or wait for reruns on TV, things would have gone very differently. Instead, BB got to Netflix before season 4, created a massive hype and TV numbers increased for seasons 4 and 5A and totally exploded for 5B. I think BB was the first (or one of the first) shows that really benefited from being available through streaming while still being on the air.
As far as BCS goes, some of the decline is certainly tied to cord cutting and people watching less linear TV. It's hard to compare it to other shows because circumstances are so different and you always have to decide if you want to use live or live+3 or live+7. But it's probably fair to say that the ratings decline from season 3 to 5 is mostly because of cord cutting.
What's not up for interpretation is that season 1 episode 1 drew a 3.4 rating on Sunday night and episode 2 on the next day ended up with a 1.6. By episode 5 they were down to a 1.2 rating. Half the episodes of season 5 had a rating of 0.3
Personally, I think BCS is a great show. After rewatching BB and BCS back to back early this year, I actually prefer a couple things in BCS. On the third watch, I didn't care about any of the Skylar / Walt Jr stuff and didn't feel that way about anything in BCS.
I just don't get why some people argue "if you like BB, you will like BCS" when that's clearly not the case with a lot of people.

That's GoT and The Walking Dead (until it tanked). BB was pretty popular in the end but still not even in the same universe as some of the blockbuster TV shows.
