How do we know Kim was out of the picture during BB? I don’t remember any references to his home life at all.

The same way we knew that Chuck wasn't still doing corporate law at HHM; Saul's actions wouldn't make sense.

Seems really unlikely Mike wouldn't be smart enough to figure out a way to lure the bad guy out of his truck and THEN shoot him, so they now have a vehicle to drive and not-piss to drink.

Yeah, that was my problem with that scene too. At least wait until he stops and then plunk him.

OTOH, maybe just over the next hill, they'll find someone to give them a ride. Maybe a couple of guys out in their RV for the weekend.

That might have been his plan. Saul standing in the middle of the road so the cartel guy can just run him over makes that impossible.

Having the money but Saul dead doesn't solve Mike's problem. He needs both to get Lalo sprung for whatever trap Gus has planned.

Amazing episode. Was anyone else worried that Kim was the one in the car at the end? I can't believe there are people ITT who don't like her character. She's one of the best female characters I've ever seen on TV.

Also I thought My Name Is was a weird song choice for a minute. I usually do pretty well at music trivia but I've never heard the song it sampled until now.

Thought the exact same whilst watching.

Right, Saul could've been better bait by standing near the road instead of on it.

Now that I think about it some more, the plan doesn't seem that believable. Sending down an unarmed guy in a shitty car you know has a good chance of breaking down to a place where he can be easily overcome?

Seems like they'd have given him a reliable vehicle and some companions, just as a basic precaution. But, that wouldn't fit in with the plot involving Mike and Gus.

Still, this is the sort of thing that makes their stories so compelling--in the moment, I get swept up and go along. It isn't until later that I think back and say, "that wouldn't have been done that way in the real world."

The show has never been about how it 'would be done in the real world' so I don't worry about that.

Probably if Saul actually tried to plan something w/ Mike. He just walked out there, forcing Mike to improvise.

ROFL. When he said "The Alternators Shot" I said literally before Mike did.

I think like is being used in different ways by different people. Kim might be not be a likeable character given how she handles various situations.

However, she is certainly a very complex character with a some interesting facets. People might like that because it adds to the story.

That's more or less my opinion of her. Not likeable in the first context, but very likeable in the second.

smarter plan would have been saul going in the middle of the road without the bags, so the guy would have been forced to stop and ask him where the **** the bags are

I'll let this one slide. It's actually a common strategy I've seen in a lot of movies. The idea (which they kind of explained in the show) is that sending Jimmy in a shitty car seems such an unlikely way to transport 7 million, that no one would expect it, allowing him to pass undetected.

There are obvious flaws with that strategy, but it's not like people never use it.

Honestly, I was expecting the car to break down (or Jimmy speeding and crashing). I was not expecting some thugs to show. (Honestly, I think that's the most unbelievable part of the ep - how did they to be there?)

Did Mike know to be there because of the gas cap?

And couldn't he have brought a sat phone, more guys, let Gus know where he'd be. . . ?

I assumed that the gas cap indicated that they, at some point, decided that they needed to keep tabs on Jimmy. This is one time it may have helped.

However, I don't think that gas cap is what let Mike be Johnny on the spot in this case. He had to have been really discretely tailing him and keeping eyes on him. The dudes who jumped Jimmy could have done it anywhere. All the gas cap tells him is that the car is stopped (car trouble, taking a piss, and getting jacked all look the same initially to the gas cap monitor). It doesn't tell him why and if he's not real close he can't save Jimmy.

Sat phone seems like a no-brainer if you're going out in the desert. As far as the other guys are concerned, they kind of explained that. Perhaps Mike's main fear is that Jimmy might try to take the money and run and that is why he was following him. So, I'd say he was following him mostly for that reason and secondarily to guard against the kind of thing that actually happened. However, he thought the latter outcome to be unlikely (which is why he said, if I had known, I'd have brought more guys).

But once the other guys showed up, he realized the one outer came in and then he had to deal with that.
