it makes zero sense and is just lazy sloppy writing.
also, mike says they're gonna make it look like an accident so what we're just supposed to believe the ppl investigating the "accident" are going to be so ****ing inept they miss a fatal bullet wound?
or are they going to somehow orchestrate an entire investigation that will satisfy the german lawyers and authorities and deal with all those loose ends all rather than believe this guy who hasn't give a single indication that he would want to turn mike in and get him n gus in trouble is going to suddenly have a change of heart because he snuck off for a few days to **** his wife?
it's ****ing idiotic.
if anything the total devotion and loyalty he has to his wife should demonstrate that he's the type of guy who is fiercely loyal to the people he cares about one of which is clearly mike.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
one of the defining characteristics of gus they tried to hammer home was he didn't just act irrationally out of anger, he was logical and restrained and once he trusted someone he was willing to hear them out and not rush to judgement.
This was a guy who just a couple episodes ago was drunkenly blabbing about the job to some total strangers in a bar. Now he knows exactly where the site is, having completely circumvented the meticulously planned precautions that Gus took to make sure none of them did. He's also proven through this that he's
anything but fiercely loyal to Mike, completely defying his direct orders even after being on thin ice for the bar incident, and that, best case, he has terrible judgement and will act irrationally when it serves his personal interest.
Also remember Gus doesn't know all the sappy details about his love for his wife and hs general personality like we do, he's just getting second-hand reports from Mike about a guy who has on multiple occasions put the project at risk. Plus, Lalo now knows him by name and is not going to just let him go back quietly to his life in Germany. The existence of a wife who he's already prioritized over loyalty to Mike & Gus makes it all but certain he'll spill the beans if there's any threat of violence against her. If anything, it's entirely consistent with Gus's meticulous nature to nip this in the bud before he loses control of the situation.
