Still enjoying the show and think it's one of the best on TV, but at this point in the season (have watched them all in real time since day 1), this is the most bored I've found myself with the show.

Agreed, I'm still enjoying it but this season does not seem as good as the rest of them so far.

Re: Better Call Saul - season 4 - Aug. 6

I thought the whole cell phone hustle was lame (you could buy burner cell phones at a store in 2003; I had one! like no shady people would not know this). but I really think it cements Jimmy into criminal lawyer Saul sooner rather than later, like soon after his probation ends in 9 months.

I'm still enjoying the show, and generally I hate people who complain about how slow the show is, but I have to admit I felt that way tonight. I don't think they know how to pace out Jimmy's storyline and are just killing time.

Maybe they like to throw in 1 dud per series on purpose. In BB it was the Fly episode.

ya I was wondering about the year. I was thinking it was 2002. I think thats early enough that everyone started to get cell phones then. he could probably target older shady types but all the kids should be aware. ofc, I think the wire was the same timeframe and they were on the burner kick then too.

so I dont think its some novel idea but plenty of ppl still hadnt adopted yet.

Anybody else see how 'Saul Goodman' could fit into that last shot of him cleaning the paint off the window? Was that intentional and really obvious?

While I agree that this season is definitely slow, I still love it....can't explain why....1 hour of Jimmy doing nothing and Mike trying to find a guy to build the meth lab is better than most shows doing anything else.

Loved the opening. Saul literally punching a hole in the Declaration of Independence. Probably should've been the constitution, but still great.

Re: Better Call Saul - season 4 - Aug. 6

--Opening was phenomenal.

--Kim tanking the Mesa Verde deal is huge.

--Wondering who the guy in the Denver airport parking lot was, and why he was later found to be unacceptable, was cool.

--Jimmy seeing the carnage he inflicted upon innocent Howard, being torn, and ultimately deciding he DGAF--coupled with his dismissal of psychiatry on a sample size of "one"--was a devastating 1-2 punch.

--But there were no killings, no shoot-outs, no car accidents. A mere street mugging was no match for 2+2's bloodlust. Standing up to a biker gang, alone, late at night, when all the street-smart people head for the hills at the mere sound of their approach, is just a ho-hum transaction--as is lying to your girlfriend, the only person in your life who ever believed in you, is currently supporting you emotionally and financially, and is a wonderful person (easily the purest person on the show), and for what? to sell burner phones on street? You want to risk this relationship, wreck all trust, over fun 'n games nonsense??? You're a sick person, and flushing the shrink's number is making the wrong choice at an enormous fork in the road of a lifetime.

But nobody got whacked, so nothing happened on The Sopranos tonight.

Completely agree. At some point during the episode I even said to myself "wow this is so slow, and almost nothing is happening, but I am still loving it"

Agree loved the opening. After watching it I thought to myself how will this play into the episode (much like last weeks). In regards to your 2nd point, does anyone else think Kim tanking Mesa Verde, and doing Public Defender work, lead you to think she will end up back at HHM and that's the card Saul/Jimmy gave to Francesca?

Initially, I thought the first guy was passed over because he started talking about another job and Mike and Gus saw that as a red flag. Don't need him talking about this job down the road somewhere. After the 2nd guy gave his assessment of the job, I thought maybe Gus thinks this guy gets what he is after. The 2nd guy gave a much more detailed assessment of the job and seems to realize just how big of a job it will be.

Re: Better Call Saul - season 4 - Aug. 6

I thought I was pretty kind with my last complaint about the pacing because it has been really slow the last few episodes. It was starting to lose my interest then and it's continuing to happen now.

The cell phone thing was a pretty lame plot device to show that Jimmy's still grifting given how easily burner phones could be found back then. I guess we learn that the only thing Jimmy can be is a criminal lawyer.

Jimmy sees how ****ty Howard is doing with therapy and realizes that it's a waste of time. Maybe it was my sound, but Howard sounded as though he was drunk or doped up on something. Had some horrible hair and overall looked awful.

The superlab bit came out of nowhere. I mean there wasn't even a mention of meth or anything like that. Looks like they kicked that first guy off the project for his lack of attention to detail and use of computers to record the creation of an underground drug lab.

Kim doesn't want to do Mesa Verde but doesn't have it in her to quit and was trying to get let go. However, she realized that losing them would be worse than dealing with the stress of handling them.

I believe the idea to boost the Hummel solidified as he was heading out the door when he came to the realization he probably wasn't getting the gig. He went back in, not to sell them on hiring him but to case the place to get a better look at the security safeguarding the Hummel.

It's also possible that he received some SSRIs from his therapist. Those things really ****ed with me like that for the brief time I spent on them.

I read the scene as he was turned down and then decided that he would
make one more attempt to sell them.

Then when he did sell them he became disgusted at how gullible and weak he thought they were(kinda like his father) for just buying into his pitch.

It was then that he didnt want the job and THEN that he decided to steal from them (like he stole from his father)

ya first guy wasnt nearly as professional or knowledgeable. also, first guy claimed there was no reason to blast and second guy agreed with gus that it was necessary. so theres 2 reasons to disqualify.
